Counterfeit Lafayette Dollar

Got this today, was inherited by the seller. Definitely not legit. But a decent quality counterfeit. Weight, diameter, thickness all check out. Sound is ever so slightly off. Don't have an XRF or Sigma or I'd check it.

There seems to be no coins 'they' will not counterfeit..... since there is some market for all types. That being said, obscure coins are more often counterfeited by those with an extensive operation - such as we see in the Asian outlets. Cheers, RickO
If its a counterfeit it is very high quality. It looks genuine to me.

This is an old, old counterfeit. It's nothing like the new counterfeits coming out of China.

It almost passes initial inspection pre-louping. Almost.

It does look pretty good to me as well but there are air bubbles in many places indicating a cast counterfeit. Especially at the location the OP shown and also the LAF in Lafayette if you blow up the images.

Yep. There's a prominent one behind the hilt of the sword between that and the head. A whole bunch elsewhere too. The date, the front legs of the horse. I handle a decent amount of counterfeits, most don't come close to the quality of this one, hence me posting it.
