2021 Morgan (& Peace?) Dollars - Should we clean them? (I'm serious.)
Hi folks,
I've gotten a few shipments of the Morgan $s. To my eye, it seems like they may have a thin film on them. Possibly a planchet cleaning solution. I'm wondering if that is what is responsible for some of the spotting and whether preservation of them might be best served by giving them a good acetone wash and/or a distilled water rinse.
Thoughts?

A little acetone or MS70 shouldn't hurt anything. I have not seen any of these in person.

A good buffing might help make them look more like coins. I'm serious.

I recommend an acetone bath for all silver coins from the Mint. Long ago, Russ told me to do that to prevent milkspots.... So, I did, and whether or not it helped, I have no milkspots. Cheers, RickO
