Need help - quick question on Priority Mail shipping

I have a nice coin I'm going to sell. I'd like to use the BS&T if possible. Coin is a Charlotte quarter eagle PCGS AU50 CAC with a CAC price guide value of $4000. Can Priority Mail be insured for that much, or is registered the only adequately safe way to go?

Priority can be insured for that much, but it'll cost a lot more than the insurance on Registered mail. If Registered is too slow, you might also consider Express. The less time USPS has an expensive item in their possession, the better I feel about it.
You can insure up to $5,000 with priority/express.
Check the prices, express might be a wash if you go flat rate.
I would send priority with signature confirmation in a study box with fiber tape on all sides.
Thanks for the help. I've decided that registered is the way to go, given the post today about the Priority Express that had the 1872-CC G$5 and 1943 MS68 steel cent go missing in transit.

If she's over a Grand, she's going registered for me. That's pretty much the break even point if you are going to insure priority or 1st class mail. Patience is a virture...even a wait of an extra week or so is worth the piece of mind to me!
Use Registered Mail.
Keep in mind that USPS will honor an insurance claim on bullion only if it is sent registered. Be aware that USPS has not provided its definition of bullion.

Isn't Priority Mail or First-Class Mail to be used 'in combination' with Registered Mail? I know I've paid for both when I shipped my packages to PCGS.
Registered is an add-on secure service for either first class or priority. It's either first class registered or priority registered. They both travel at the slow registered pace.
If it's not over 16 oz. and not in a priority box or envelope always request "first-class registered" and save a few bucks.
