US MINT - Sending me coins with no order history

jmlanzafjmlanzaf Posts: 35,330 ✭✭✭✭✭

Kind of funny. Wondered if anyone else has had this happen:

I just got a shipment of S Mint Morgan $s that has no order history. In fact, when I checked the credit card, the Mint has shipped FOUR orders of Morgan $s and charged to my credit card yet it does not show up in my order history AND I did not get a shipping notification email from the Mint.

  • So the short version is: you received & were charged for extra Morgans but did not order that many?

Honestly, I think I probably did order them. There's just no record of the order. I don't even have order confirmation emails.

UPS packages will have the mint order# attached, that would be a way to reconcile if it’s missing from your order history. USPS packages don’t, so no help there.

Missing confirmation emails seems to be a thing during this season of increased/high profile releases.

ETA: I’ve misplaced an order or tracking number when it was “spouse’s” account or “sibling’s” account.

No you are not imagining it and you’re not going crazy and you are not delusional or psychotic. I had the same thing happened. I am now in touch with reality.

I have the Mint order number. It simply doesn't correspond to anything in the order history and there is no corresponding email. I don't care. I'm happy to have the coins. It is just an oddity among a year of Mint oddities.

I don't think so. But it's not impossible that I accidentally got logged out and ended up checking out as a guest. But I would have had to do it on two different days...and only with that one account. My other accounts don't have the issue.

For me, the order number on the bottom of the package does not match the order number in my order history. The only way I see of reconciling an unopened package with my order history is by looking at the tracking number…

Yes I could open the package but they are sold “unopened”

I opened mine. It was the only way I could even know what was in the dang package. LOL.

I vaguely remember placing the order and I don’t see it in the order history. But it was delivered. No worries. I don’t trust the order history page or most of the operators but so far I’ve had good luck because my requests have been simple. And I have narrowed it down to no more returns so now even simpler.

I have a friend that says he has an order # and a tracking # showing shipped but they have not charged his card.

    Free Morgan's?

I have not seen this happen, however, I do not order in volume or very many mint issues....Seems my two or three orders a year all go smoothly.... If I were superstitious, I would cross my fingers after saying that... :D;) Cheers, RickO

This account only shows 2 orders in its entire history, it's new. Yet they are shipping 6 items.

@jmlanzaf... Wow.. that blows my theory..... Hope it all works out well. Cheers, RickO

You don’t want this. The mint shipped an order to me that had not been charged. That resulted in a letter giving me the option of paying or returning the item. I have called numerous times to try to pay and each time they promise to run my card and then they don’t. Meanwhile the customer service reps have told me that this situation automatically puts every other order you have on hold until the situation is resolved - which means none of my Morgans or Peace have shipped. I am leaning toward cancelling my Morgan and Peace at this point since if I ever get them at all, they will likely be the returned rejects.

Having an order shipped and not paid for will result in all orders getting canceled. Happened to me this year. I had over $120k worth of orders canceled because I placed an order for a $25 mint set in Jan. Didn’t ship until May, and by then I had changed an account used to pay. No letter, no emails, no call. I noticed all my orders were getting canceled. I called to no avail

  • I have had similar issues with Royal Mint in UK, though sort of reverse. I order one coin and the order History shows I have ordered 2 of the coin, fortunately I only get charged for one coin, unfortunately I only get the one coin as per the order, I wish the It system could do it correctly or someone fixed the bug. I get almost hyped when I think two might come by accident but in the end I know only one will come. Sure as it did with the last order only one coin came. With the release of the 2022 Sovereign which is a Date of interest due to a one off design as it’s a platinum jubilee I expect to see the same thing happen, but as long as I get this key date I’m happy that my coin purchases for the year will have been wise choices.

    @jessewvu

That’s insanity - I’m sorry that happened to you. At this point, if that happens, I’ll settle for a single PCGS 70 from the Bay. Having fought the mint just to place these orders to now have them cancelled is exhausting. For me, collecting is all about enjoyment and this has been a miserable experience. There are better ways to enjoy the hobby than fighting the Mints shenanigans.
