10 oz Silver Bars

I did see some discussion here about silver bars, but it was dated 2009. I was hoping there was someone here now who could help me get started. I never thought about investing in silver bars, but now I would like to try that. I don't like the hyperinflation I am seeing coming up. My questions are where do I purchase these bars? ( See how green I am) How do you store them? How do I know I actually purchased .999 silver. Are there local dealers in North Texas where I can walk in and buy silver bars? I would appreciate your advice. I would like to understand how this works. Thanks

I like to get them from Apmex or at coin shows. https://www.apmex.com/category/25640/10-oz-silver-bars

They sell capsules to put 10 Oz bars into too https://www.apmex.com/product/101906/coinsafe-stackable-capsule-10-oz-silver-bar

  • Thank you Mr_Spud :) I did talk to Apmex today. They seem very customer friendly. I would like to go physically and purchase these. How would I find a coin show? Can I purchase bars at a coin show?

Also you can Google coin shops, or coin dealers, in your local area.

@Michelle2... Welcome aboard... Yes, there are silver bars available on the Buy, Sell, Trade forum, the Precious Metals Forum and local dealers. Buy from trusted suppliers.... If buying on these forums, there are usually other members that can vouch for sellers (having done business with them before). Be careful on auction sites...lots of fakes out there...Cheers, RickO

    Check on the Bullion Board.

SDBullion and JMBullion are better places to look than Apmex. Apmex is like a vengeful divorced woman, all it wants is your money and will try and takes half.
FYI JMBullion also has military/veteran discount.

  • Buy local!!

A local shop is your best bet as they can offer guidance and advice. Some are better than others. You can see it, touch it. You will also build a relationship should u need to sell in the future.

To verify it is real ask them how they test it when they buy it. Most will b happy to show/explain. If they are a bit more expensive than online its worth the education!!

    Good luck
