Opinion of these Redfield Morgan's

Open for thoughts and discussion. Just looking to hear what others may have to say on these Redfield's. I have looked back in the forum at previous discussions (MANY Years ago). Let's hear what you have to say. Sorry for the slack images, best I could do right now.

Common bag marked Redfield coins...I like them. Nice toning...the slabs look very clean.

Didn't win, but you make a good point that not everyone would know. Back in the 60's an uncirculated coin was either a M60 or MS65 and the interpretations of grades were all over the place. You could bet that an MS60 would be pretty rough, usually with lots of hits and abrasions.

Just a bit better than the average Redfield. Remember that these were from bags dumped down a chute into his basement. Most coins felt the impact for sure. These I do like. "S" mints, whats not to like about them?

I really enjoy the "Redfields" I have. These look to be a bit better than average as others have said. There is an excellent book out about the life of Lavere Redfield and his coin hoard. I'd like to add to this post a photo of one of my Redfields, but they are all in the SDB as of this writing.

Just remembered, I do have this photo of a display I did. The book I mentioned is in the case also.

Thank you gentlemen for your thoughts and commentary. One thing I forgot to add to these is that they do have the original box as well. Though it is only the 3 coins rather than the original 7 the box holds.

Thanks for the memories. I picked up a few when they were being promoted.

Cute that Paramount choose to mount theirs on a "Red" "Field."

    I never even noticed that!

I never did buy one of these.... just felt that it was marketing hype (though probably from the actual hoard). Just figured that many, many of my coins were owned by other people before I acquired them, and I was not even acquainted with Mr. Redfield... Reminds me of the tourist signs "Geo. Washington slept here."... Yeah, OK.... Moving right along... ;) Cheers, RickO
