The ones that I've received do show signs that PL may be possible if the dies are polished a bit more and the matte finish is a bit lighter. Maybe one will popup soon.

Not a chance. They have the same finish as ASE's. I've never seen a DMPL ASE. Is there one? Out of almost 4 million ASEs slabbed by PCGS, there is a sole PL coin and no DMPL if I'm reading the pop report correctly.
There won't be any DMPL coins for the simple reason that the Mint doesn't have the processes to make DMPL coin surfaces any more. Collectible coins like these come with satin finishes, which uses a process that modifies the surface in a way that prevents DMPL surfaces from forming. To make a DMPL coin, they would have to do something different with collectible coin surfaces, which wasn't done here.

That's a rather broad statement. A lot of PL and DMPL 5 oz pucks have come from the mint over the past decade, so they certainly still have "the processes". They just might not be using them for these coins...

Seems like the fields are close to satin - not mirrored.
Agree.

Yes, these state they are on satiny or burnished uncirculated finishes, but I find it interesting the burnished eagles are usually graded SP70 at PCGS, but these seem to be graded MS70. Are there any subtle differences in the uncirculated finish, or just labeling inconsistencies?
I think these blanks are the same diameter as a modern commemorative proofs, Strange things can happen to make life interesting.
There is certainly confusion around the new finish. The mint released similar matte finish BU coins last decade and PCGS graded them MS at the time and later changed to differentiate with business strikes (using SP to date). Call them burnished, matte, satin, etc they are specially treated planchets and dyes.

@Goldminers appears to be correct about the 2021 Morgan & Peace Dollars. Despite the uncirculated finish, PCGS is assigning the "MS" prefix. Source (downloaded image 10.25.21)
Just received 3 Denver mintmarked coins and they are bright and can cartwheel luster in the light. They are not PL, and as many have stated, they probably never will be, but still they look good like MS, and not dull like some other modern SP examples.

That would be cool esp on the peace dollars

Joseph Menna, the chief engraver, said the 2021 ones are better than the originals so I'm hoping!

My CC privy Morgan is coming today.... I doubt it will be DMPL... but will let you know... Cheers, RickO

If the series continues into next year and beyond, maybe they will strike some proofs.

PCGS raised their standards for DMPL's the past couple years making them much more difficult to get graded, at least on the ATB pucks.
However PL's are a different story, and I would not bet against that possibility at this stage.

The dies aren't being prepared this way, so no PL.

Probably not. PL ? Maybe. These are similar to the burnished ase’s. I have not seen a PL or DMPL example.

Even a PL coin is nearly impossible without shenanigans.

2021 Morgans lol ...as if the mint didn't have enough money swindling schemes.
Ounce by ounce the stack grows .
Nice looking coins, actually. You don't have to like them or buy them, but it is one of the nicer Mint offerings of recent years.

Eh....for the price I'd rather have an original low grade than a pretty repop.
