What about if Magic hadn't gotten HIV and retired at 31 (but for a few games 4 or 5 years later)? What would Magic and the Lakers have done? Might have changed all 3 of the above.
Bird, without the back problems wouldn't have even really been aging. I think his prime would have extended.
Bird was one of the most principled, smart, players to ever play the game. Teams like the C's and B's would be a joy to watch these days given the sloppy play going on......
