New 1917-D Obverse Walker for my Early Date Set

Plugging away at the early date set. This one is low hanging fruit compared to the '21 coins, of which I have none yet.

This is the normal D, as opposed to the Filled D variety (Fox). Strike is pretty good, thumb is there. With the normal satin like finish and numerous light surface abbrasions. GTG if you'd like. Weekend's right around the corner!

PS fun fact, per Fox this one was in the late '40's of a higher value than the ‘21 S…

I see a very slight wear line down the center.

This one is a choice AU 58.

    Congrats on your latest pickup!

PS-The 1917 DO was only the 2ND early certified Walker that I EVER owned.

Mine is a 63 that is still in my set and has doubled, in price, since I purchased it in the late 1990s!!

Probably graded AU-58. An attractive early Walker!

I'm bad at grading walkers so I wont try, but I like it a lot whatever the grade is!

I'm also in the super slider AU58 camp....just a hint of rub away from 63/64.
    Great coin!
Another date that used to pop up at shows in nice AU ~30+ years ago, but have long since disappeared. The last decent raw 17D obv I found was a VF about 8 years ago, and I bought it immediately.

MS63. I just don't see any luster breaks; I think the areas of interest are just not fully struck up, not light wear.
Very nice looking half dollar. Congratulations.

She's in a 55 holder. I was thinking 58 as well, definitely not MS. Maybe a resubmit in the future. Enjoy the weekend!

I’d pay 58 money for that coin all day long.
