Hi guys, yeah picked these up today at a LCS I've never been at. Way across town (Wrigleyville). Yes, near Chicago Cubs park, on the Northside of Chicago. Pretty nice place and owner. I turned in a PCGS slabbed coin in. The 1964 proof "Accented Hair" variety. Pf 65. I have another exact one at home. Had two graded PF. 65. I was asking $50. He said,"How about a trade for $50 or $40 cash"? I said, "sure".
He let me Cherry pick many proof sets, mint sets, SMS sets included. 65,66 and 67. I was searching for any rotated 1976s Quarters in the 3 coin sets. No such luck in anything. Looking especially hard for the DDR 1968 pf. Quarters, in the 1968 proof sets. No such Luck there either. I asked if he had any rolls
of older coins? He said, "only a 1956d roll of Washington Quarters (in an old wrapper) and a small bag of wheat cents." The quarter roll looked Awesome. It really looked old in the original wrapper! He wanted $225. Now, the 1956d has a great variety. The "inverted D". Big money. Couldn't buy that today, I said maybe later some time? The wheat cent bag contained 660 wheaties. $33. 5c each. Kinda high, but I said, YES! $33, so he gave me $17 in cash back. Good deal, I think? Plus, he even threw in 10 steel cents in the deal. All mixed (p, d, s)
All in really good shape too. Maybe, the 1943d over d? Nice guy to let me search through a bunch of his stuff and having the patience as well. I told him, thank you, for allowing that! I told him, "Many other dealers would of pushed me out of their store." He got a kick out of that. Lol. Before leaving, I told him, I may be back soon for those 1956 Quarters? He said, he'd hold them for me. I may return sooner than he thinks?

Can't wait to search those Wheaties Tonight

Thanks guys. :)

    1937p

    Not too bad.

    Peculiar Steelie

The three gash appearances. Two on the reverse look concave (sunkin in).
Then one on the obverse looks convex (raised)?
Why two concave and one convex?
Then an extra line next to the "9" to the right. RPD?

    Concave. Sunkin in

    Convex. Raised

    New Find

    Kinda Rough but that's ok.
    It's a 1909

$225 for a full of quarters is only 22x face.

The 1956d roll. The roll really looked original. The ends looked really tightly crimped, on both ends. :)

Yeah, but won't be frequently visiting him.
Too far, over 20 miles away. :/

As someone who has to drive 150 miles to my nearest coin shop, 20 miles doesn’t sound so bad 😂

@joeykoins The 1936 does not look like a DDO to me. The bag search sounds like fun. Reasonably priced. When I was much younger, I bought two bags of "unsearched" wheaties and found some good ones for the time. A few 22D, a few early S-mints, etc. I was happy back then. Good luck on the hunt. Keep us posted.

Joey, it's 17 miles one way to the grocery store for me. Of course probably not the traffic concerns you have, unless you go at a certain time of day for less traffic patterns.

When I was a boy, to visit the coin shop we had to walk 50 miles uphill through yellow snow both ways...
