1901 Quarter Eagle - Proof?

This is being offered - as a proof coin - on our local version of eBay (for NZ$13,500). I am not tempted to buy, just curious as to how one can tell whether or not it’s actually a proof.

Looks like a business strike to me. There is satiny mint luster next to all the letters and devices.
Those areas would be much more reflective on a proof (even an impaired proof).
The rims look wrong for a proof, so I'd say no.
Agree. A proof would have a sharply squared off rim.

It does not appear to be a proof.... fields and rims do not exhibit proof quality, even if circulated. Cheers, RickO
No, everything is off for a proof, jmo
Perhaps the auction venue is not familiar with the terminology we use here in the States, but that is not a proof as we define it here.

From PCGS:

Nice coin, but no proof. Just doesn’t look like a proof.
Even if it were a Proof, which is certainly doesn't appear to be, the asking price is way too high, considering the state of preservation.

That's what I figured. I was focused on the rims myself.
