Hi guys, yeah decided to buy 2 coins I've never had in my collection. The Carver/ Booker T. Washington Commends and the coin in which the words, "In God We Trust", was first placed on. The 2 Cent 1864 coin.
Whatcha guys think? Thanks ;)

I like the commem for sure (sorry, not a fan of the 2 centers) nice coin 😉

On the 2 cent coin. I did notice a little doubling above the Shield on the reverse. Will further my examination later with my trusty scope when I arrive home. ;)

I am in 100% agreement other than I'd switch the two coins in preference. :|

That was John Lydgate. Also, a version often attributed to Lincoln has “fool” in place of “please”.

Anything in particular about these two coins that caught your eye?

Just the pedigree factors. Also, the fact that I have none in my collection, until today.
Always loved the fact of the famous motto, "I.G.W.T." first coin. Love that year, as well, 1864. Civil War year. About the Commemorative coins, the Booker T
    Always peeked my interest.
    Thanks :)

    Large, right?

    Yes, large motto.

I quite like obsolete denominations 2c 3C etc. Not a fan of classic commems though.

The Washington-Carver is OK but the 2 cent piece seems to be weakly struck on the reverse. If they were cheap you did OK but neither coin gets me excited.

    All glory is fleeting.

I like the 2c. Looks like original color and a nice strong W (we). 👍
I have a soft spot for 2c. One of the coins my grandma gave me after my grandpa died in the early 60’s.

Nice acquisitions! I've always liked the 2 cent pieces.

Shield side is the obverse, 2 Cent side is the reverse.
    Get it straight! ;)

The easiest way to tell a Large Motto from the Small Motto is the distance from the ribbon fold to the T in the Motto. You would think the with the Small Motto the T would be further away but it isn't.

    Large, right?

I wish I were more like that. The only piece I still have from those coins my grandma gave me is a circulated Columbian 50c.
Edit : just remembered I gave my sister the 1872 2c because I didn’t trust myself I would trade or sell it. She still has it.
