Gold Experts, Need Opinions on 2 Gold Eagles

What do you guys think? Accurately graded? The 1932 Indian is MS-64+ and looks solid for the grade in my eyes. The 1901 Lib. is MS-64+ and looks shockingly good at that grade, perhaps undergraded? (I do see a little bit of softness in the strike on the 1901...Is that what is holding it back?) Opinions welcomed.

Both really nice coins that appear to be accurately graded.

I like the 1932. A bunch of small marks in less visible areas - on the headdress and on the bird. But nothing major or distracting. The picture implies reasonable luster as well.
I don't like the 1901. Overall clean look but for me the black spots next to eagles leg are distracting, and the picture implies muted luster. Pic may also be minimizing hits on the face.
For both of these dates they are commonly available, you can afford to be picky.
64 is an excellent grade for these - big price jumps in 65. I look for nice luster and color - a couple hits are ok for the grade and you should be able to find examples where they are more hidden and not distracting.

I like both coins, PCGS is really tough on 5 & 10 libs in 5, I have had a few over the years that always seem to fall short a 1/2 grade point also.
With the normal disclaimers regarding grading from images...
The 1932 $10 looks fine at the assigned grade and even with the reverse grease(?) marks, the 1901 looks under-graded. That said, my guess is that it doesn't look as clean in hand or it would have graded higher. I don't think the strike is what's holding it back.

The fields are spectacular on the obverse of both coins. The reverse of each coin seems accurate for the grade.

As the go to expert here 🤪 seldom looks as good as PCGS glamor shots. Heritage photos are 💩 the lighting hides (almost) everything.
I share the same sentiments as everyone else, They're both really solid coins for the grade, both very appealing. I'm looking at the heritage pictures and it looks to me like the liberty might possibly have subdued luster to be a 65, there is several small contact marks on the face but they don't detract too much from the coin. The grease spot on the reverse is a little (tiny bit) distracting but again, I cant stress this enough, I'm no expert. Overall its a great looking coin that might make it as a 65 on the right day. I think Mfeld nailed it home, very hard to say without having the coin in hand. Here's a closeup of the face-

Thanks for close up @DeplorableDan Not much in the way of dings....as far as gold goes at least.
Here's another 1901 $10 in MS-64+ Now can someone explain how these two coins are graded the same....Are the PCGS graders living on the same planet?
big difference !!!

There are unlimited slabbed coins same service you can say the same thing.
OK unlimited is an exaggeration it’s not the same as finding the end to outer space but you get the idea.
Ownership adds a point.
Are we second-guessing PCGS? If so, I think that is called reconsideration. For $100 or so, all your questions will be answered.
I've seen similar, I'm guessing the luster pulled that one through...

They are both coins I'd be happy to own.

Both really nice for the grade.
Nice goods and solid for the grades.
the two OP coins are both gorgeous. I think that 1901 has a bit of green verdigris sitting atop two tiny copper spots. That is probably what kept it from a 65. Still a coin I would be happy to own.
The other 1901 is proof that 10% of the average work week is a Monday morning.
Agree with you Captain!

I'm guessing there's a good chance that coin looks a lot better in hand under decent lighting.

The gold coins in the OP are both very nice....and I think graded appropriately - based on pictures. I do not like the black spots on the reverse of the '01, but still a minor issue. Cheers, RickO
Heck, I look better in hand under decent lighting, but I ain’t no MS-64 anymore!!!
