Like most of us collectors, I usually try to find a new coin dealer to visit when traveling. Usually it is a big let down. Today was a very good experience. On vacation in Sarasota, contacted Coinlieutenant on the boards and asked for any recommendations. He had high praise for Sarasota Coin Gallery.
Left the kids at the beach with the wife and found a few minutes to take the 15 minute drive. Ended up spending a couple of hours with some of the most helpful and knowledgeable dealers I have met. A real enjoyable time, could have spent longer but was already pushing the limits by abandoning the wife with the kids when I plan to spend the entire day tomorrow fishing.
I ended up adding a nice menagerie to the collection
A great day of searching coins and now hopefully tomorrows day of fishing is as productive
1850 3 cent silver j125 pr65+
I have been intrigued by these patterns for a while and have made a few bids on them in the past. Happy I never won one. This coin is the highest graded by PCGS and looks just as nice in person as in the picture.
1798 Peru 8 reap. AU55. Just a great surfaces coin that screamed take me home
1771 British 1/2 pence. Great glossy copper with great strike and perfect look.
1855 1/2 cent ngc 64rb cac. Have a nice start to an 1855 type set and this was a nice addition
Finally a nice Athens Owl. Always wanted one of these and due to a large hoard they have become much more reasonable in the past couple years. Had a nice group to choose from and picked this one.

Wow love that pattern 3c. Almost thought it was a Mexican coin looking at the cap on the obverse.

I have bought from them and been satisfied. Haven’t been to the store, but they have a good website and seem fair and pleasant to deal with.
Really like that pattern 3 cent and love the 1855 half cent, great pickups all the way around.
