As others have noted, this is not a W mint ASE nor a proof coin so price is pretty much within range.
This is probably one of the many reasons the mint is flooding the markets with all the different variations and most that are not aware of them would simply rush out and buy it creating an artificial hoopla about demand.
Speaking of which, am surprised that there was no set of four type 2 gold on offer in the first year it is being issued. Perhaps in the making for a release early next year?

Here’s kinda what the burnished ase’s are going for. You did just fine for the standard issue and as silver goes back up you’ll feel better
With a $12 premium, you need silver to go up about $9 before you'll feel better. These will immediately lose some premium when the 2022s come out. Never buy the current year ASE except to fill your album. A 2020 coin would only be $31 or $32 currently.
[I won't even get into the question of why there is a $9 premium on all ASEs right now. It's usually more like $3.]

The premium is because the ASE is too pretty to melt. The increased premium is because most new mint offerings are ugly, so the ASE is even prettier by contrast.

All nonsense.
Guess I should have put a few of these...

Seems like the going price for the bullion iteration.... As mentioned, not the W mint though... The OP is not the first to confuse the initials with the W mint mark... Have heard it twice before by new collectors I know (not local - email friends). Cheers, RickO

Didn't these sell for 63$ apiece from the US Mint?

Not the bullion version. These are $35ish from the ADs.
Standard market price, more or less. They are $34 on ebay.
That's not a W on the front, by the way, that's Weinmann's initials.

Oh yeah, I just looked it up. The actual W "Burnished" eagles were $67.

Yup. As I say, pretty much standard price. Although he might have bought the holder separately.
