The 1904 Panamas

moursundmoursund Posts: 3,207 ✭✭✭✭✭

Not a US coin, but struck by the US mint.
The 'Panama pill' was mentioned in another thread. I liked it so much, I got one for myself.

Does anyone have a complete set of the 1904 Panama coins? If so, show us a family portrait!

I know how small these things are, but do you have a size comparison image handy for those who are unaware? If memory serves me right, I believe Weiss has a great image to demonstrate the size.

Well, it's smaller than a Barber dime ...

Nice looking coin... However, never been a fan of tiny coins... too easy to lose, no 'heft' to them... I like big gold, I cannot lie.... :D Cheers, RickO

Aren't they all the same size once they've been slabbed? ;)

The series was struck in 1904, but the largest 50 centesimos was also struck in 1905. I am not an expert but IMO the most available seems to be the small "pill" coin. The others such as 5 and 10c in top condition are rather scarce.
Of note the 50c size is the size of a Morgan Dollar! I really like it even though the subject is somewhat politically incorrect these days...
By the way GTG if you please, and sorry about the darkness of the 25c.
