...among others, you could add 1909-S VDB cents. However, while also popular, 1921 Peace Dollars are far more common. And their current increased availability at much higher price levels, represents a different situation from the other coins.

Mr Feld made me look: 1909-S VDB ~480 k mintage, 1921 Peace ~ 1M mintage. Learned something this morning!

More common isn’t that different from normal common

CAC has no impact on the 100th anniversary price jump...

Dig a little further at the CAC populations and values

    S-VDB (ALL) MS64 - 450pop * MS65 - 432pop * MS66 - 68pop

    S-VDB (RB&RD) MS64 - 326pop $3,220 RB / $4380 RD * MS65 - 383pop $4,020 / $8620 * MS66 - 61pop $7,910 / $15,000

    1921 MS64 - 607pop $2,410 * MS65 - 253pop $3,560 * MS66 - 41pop $11,900

The S-VDB is everybody's childhood dream. The 1921 is for the lucky few. And the big coin is harder to find without the bag marks, etc.

    That's a very well struck '21 dollar.

Good thing I packed away a few rolls of them. ;)

I have always thought that low grade ( G.-F. ) 1921 Peace Dollars were over priced. Back in the early 1960's when I got quantities of Silver Dollars from the bank, to look through, there were always several 1921 Peace Dollars in the group. I hate to think how many of them I took back to the bank.
