1971-S Silver Ike, is there a TDR?

sumduncesumdunce Posts: 1,247 ✭✭✭✭

Found this coin while looking through the collection. After checking several websites, I did not find a TDR.

Obverse:

Reverse:

NOTE the three distinct ridges on the lower serif of the "C".
Close up of "CA" in "AMERICA" was the only place I could get the tripling to photograph:

Anyone else hear of or see this before?

If it takes that much magnification to find something there is no way it's going to be attributed by a reputable source. Actually that could just be a die defect.

IMO, It is straight die wear.

It is difficult to image the coin due to the microscope not handling the reflectivity of the coin very well.

I am seeing tripling on the "C", on the "LL" of "DOLLAR", and on the Earth.

Close up of the Earth showing tripling on the west coast mountains, and the east coast ocean swirls:

But I can not be certain it is not die wear.

Due to the scrape across the obverse, off to the junk silver pile it goes...

Probably a minor doubled die from a doubled master die.
Rather common on Kennedy halves and Ikes during this period.

I believe ANACS attributes that variety. I think I have one in their holder

I have a Triple Die Obverse in a ANACS Holder. I do believe they recognize a DDR as well.

Cool, guess I should look into an ANACS submission.
