Scratch On Case

Does a faint scratch on a case bother you? Maybe an inch long. Talking about the kind you don’t see unless you hold at a certain angle. Would you buy one with this kind of scratch?

maguiars solves most of this.
there are people out there that think or at least use this as an excuse to return cards. and ebay allows it.
eta: and no it wouldnt stop me. and do appreciate a seller that points it out vs trying to hide it. now a cracked case is a different story. especially w how long a reholder takes these days.
That wouldn't stop me.
Now do we need a place to grade cases???
My collecting blog: http://ctcard.wordpress.com
they already make magnetic cases for slabs so why not.

Yes it bothers me as a buyer. Its like a scratch on a car. I may be the only one who sees it but I can't stop staring at it.
a cracked case is a no-go, but a small scratch doesn't bother me. can always crack it out and put it in a magnetic if it is really bad.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Scratches don't bother me as long as they aren't real visible. I did buy about 5 cards from a guy one time and while boxing them up he dropped one and it cracked the case. He was super nice about it and refunded all my money for that card. It was only $25 bucks but he owned up to it and did the right thing. I didn't have a problem with it cause it was just a basic card and someday Ill have PSA redo it for me.
It drives me batty if a case is all scratched up..
For slabbed cards graded / auto authenticated. Once slabbed I see it as an extension of the card.
Its simple, put them in sleeves when u get them back from PSA / BGS..
It's not that hard !
Depends on the value and love of the card.

this is prolly my fifth incarnation of just absolutely butchering the proper spelling of this miracle worker.
Just don’t overdo it, I think I gave myself tennis elbow last spring.
Thanks much! Very helpful, I will let you know how it goes. Where’s the best place to find this? An auto store?
Yes, you can find this stuff at an auto parts store. I've seen it called "Meguiar's PlastX" too. It's typically used for cleaning up headlights. It works on light scuffs and scratches. It may take 2-3 applications depending on the scratch. Good stuff.
here are some pics I posted in another thread....

I just got a sweet PSA 8 1970 Seaver that has 1 1/2" crack on the front. My own fault, I thought it might be a shadow or a scratch and didn't ask any questions. So now I'll have to get it reholdered.
If you're a seller and there's a CRACK, mention it FFS.

tooth paste on scratches and a buff.....Meguires never helped the problems I encountered...
Over the years I purchased several slabbed cards off Ebay that had noticeable scratches and a couple had cracks on the back. Never once did the sellers divulge this information in their listings Nor did I notice until the items arrived.
I use Maguiars PlastX as mentioned in NGS428's guide - BTW thanks for the recommendation awhile back. it also works very nicely on CGC Comic Slabs
Those that have used both; Does ScratchX require less "elbow grease" than PlastX?

my assumption is ScratchX is meant for use on automotive paint and is probably less abrasive as PlastX which is meant for plastics. After using PlastX, sometimes I finish it with Meguiars 205, which is a finer microabraisive meant as a finishing compound.

I collect vintafe vinyl records also. Do you think Meguiars might work on a scratch on a record? TIA
