Does anyone know if you currently have submissions at PCGS that aren't yet graded but they were received and logged in before today will they qualify for the new quarterly specials?

I know,,,,,, call PCGS but they are closed,,,,, it is Friday and I didn't want to wait until Monday so if anyone knows the answer I would appreciate the info.

    Thanks,

    GrandAm :)

    Thanks,

I don't know how they generally do it but I had sent a sub in before the 2nd quarter ended and was expecting a mint colored box but the sub carried over into the third quarter and I instead received a silver box (3rd quarter special). So if you were expecting a silver box, you might get a gold one.

That would be good,,,,, I have several silver boxes and want the gold box.

What happened to the old days (not too long ago), when instead of the Quarterly special offering a different colored box, you would get five coins graded of a particular kind of coin (like Lincoln cents) for the price of four? And you can submit in those “multiples” to get the savings on the entire submission (like 20 coins graded for the price of 16)! That caused me to send more coins in for grading than I otherwise would have!

I'm in for a gold box. Problem is, I don't have any coins to grade, so I guess I will be looking for one aftermarket!

Hopefully they don’t go the way of the orange boxes. Expensive

Really not excited about his copper medal or the gold box. I, too, would have wanted a price break on something, anything.

Next box should be a clear see through box.

This reminds me of way back when - We were in upstate NY in a small town, staying overnight in a local motel. Went over to the local Bar & Grill, and the waitress, chewing gum, came over and asked what we’d like to drink. I asked “What type of wine do you have?”. She replied, “We have two wines - red and clear”. 😂

Dare I ask, but is it a “Carr?”

    Boring

I was hoping for a crossover special as I think PCGS wants quality coins in their slab .

@GRANDAM or anyone. Just curious - are these colored boxes tradeable or do they ever get bought and sold? So say @U1chicago wants the mint one he is missing, where would he go to buy it? Is the BST the place for that?

Where is the best location for BST of boxes? the BST Forum near this U.S. Coin Forum?

I have multiple blue (should I say 'vintage'?) boxes, black boxes, 1 mint box, silver, and will be going for gold here pretty soon.

You can try the BST here or eBay. Some of the boxes are selling for good money. The orange boxes were the most expensive the last time that I checked prices.

I like that gold box-it would work well for my gold coins, all of which would fit into one such box. A clear box as mentioned above would be interesting, too.

Yes, we should have all the colors of the RAINBOW Boxes. After clear we need Plumb Crazy Purple, and all the crazy MOPAR colors from the late 1960's & 1970's

You have to be careful removing the packing tape…it sometimes lifts up a layer of plastic…

Yes, PCGS needs to change tape,,,,,,,, the stuff they use is way too sticky.

Just got this off of instagram...
"pcgscoin The silver coins and copper medal being issued for the PCGS 35th anniversary will offer several numismatic avenues for collectors to remember this landmark year in our company’s history. There will be Silver Proof $2 coins issued by Niue with a maximum mintage of 350 pieces and will be exclusively graded PCGS PR70DCAM; coins that do not make the grade will be returned to the mint and melted. Silver Uncirculated $2 issued by Niue with a maximum mintage of 3,500 pieces. Copper Rounds will be unmonetized but carry the same designs as the Silver $2 coins."

First I heard of silver coins? How do I obtain the silver version?

Seems that's the way we are headed. Next should be metallic copper for copper coins.

You can try the BST. Most of the boxes have lost their premium although the orange still retains some (as mentioned by @Jzyskowski1 above).
