Ever see ebay coin listing featuring the reverse of coin, where the obverse isn't bad?

Do sellers think the benefit of the decent-looking reverse will outweigh the impact of the cruddy obverse?
When they show the reverse first, it is like slowing down as you pass an auto accident, and deciding whether to look...
and then if you look at the reverse, you wince...

Here is one of many examples, for beat up Morgan

Listing shows this

If you decide to look at the obverse...

100th pint of blood donated 7/19/2022 B) . Transactions with WilliamF, Relaxn, LukeMarshal, jclovescoins, braddick, JWP, Weather11am, Fairlaneman, Dscoins, lordmarcovan, Collectorcoins, SurfinxHI, JimW. It might be trying to appeal to people collecting 21D VAMs where that coin might be a early stage unicorn D 1N https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1921-d-1-vam-1n-unicorn/134055

The seller has more than 10 of those available. Why would anyone expect that the pictured coin is the one you'd get?

I disagree with the entire premise. The obverse looks much better than the reverse which looks polished.

I thought about that as well, and wondered if they have so many available, why would they show such a bad obverse...

But I've come to the expectation that, if they feature the reverse in the listing, the obverse will be cruddy.

It's a cull. What do you expect for condition? Besides, the seller has listings for P, D and S 1921s. He shows the reverse on the D and S listings. To highlight the mintmark, perhaps?

edited to add... the guy has been selling on eBay for over 20 years and has sold close to 200,000 items this year alone. The coin in the picture was probably sold years ago.

Good points, good points... But shouldn't they cull be about half that price? E.g. near melt value. I guess whatever the market will bear...

"Shouldn't"? Based on whose idea of value? Before you answer, you might want to consider that the seller has 1/3 million feedbacks, which means probably over half a million individual sales. So he probably knows at least a little bit about what he's selling.

    BTW...

There are all sorts of subterfuges used by ebay sellers... Not sure if this is one, but certainly seems more like marketing hype than deception. Most sellers will try to show their product in the best way... That is typical sales effort.... Even used cars are often washed and waxed to give the best impression. ;) Cheers, RickO
