I think it’s a good move. I wonder if every lot opens at $1 now?

I think they have not done for some time now. And it's ok, the estimates lately are so out of touch with reality, are laughable.

So, does that mean as a consignor you either pay for a reserve or your consigned lot starts at $1? On the esoteric, rare, but thinly traded varieties I collect, that is a recipe for getting slaughtered.

I’m still marveling at the 1824 Hookneck going from $27k to $96k as noted n the video.

I’m not sure how this will play out for buyers and sellers on average, but I expect somewhat more erratic priced realized. I’m ok with that.

The one thing that bothers me is that I often don’t have time to look through an entire catalog and will sort by price, just to make sure I don’t miss anything major. That’s not going to work as well now, especially well in advance of the sale date.

For this particular coin, I absolutely agree. ¡Felicidades!

Of course, I think another certain hookneck is also totally worth it!

Right now, Platinum Night auctions have both estimates and opening bids.

Signature catalog sessions have starting bids on any coin over $1,000 but not published estimates.

For Weekly Select auctions, all lots open at $1.

@MrEureka These filters on the left side of the auction page might help you if you want to sort by approximate value.
