Cowboys vs Eagles should be interesting

doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was wearing a "Beat Dallas" T-shirt and Jerry Jones took notice. Here is Jerry Jones quote:

"Well listen, I've had enough of...over the years Philadelphia, they take such pride in creating slogans and creating different types of expressions," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan (Dallas) Friday. "My hero is Drew Pearson for standing up there in Philadelphia and just putting it on them in terms of what's there."

"Make no mistake about it. That inspires their fan base. It probably inspires their players. There's no rougher place to play in the whole country than Philadelphia. No question, they're a great rival."

This is a great rivalry, I still remember when Eagles fans threw ice at Jimmy Johnson.

I remember how crazy Eagles fans were during the Bounty Bowl.

I'm also picking Dallas, I think it will be a close game. I can't wait to watch this game, these two team hate eachother and it is one of the best rivalries in sports!

DD, must you help the NFL hype machine?? there isn't a Team in the NFL that doesn't have this type of rivalry with at least one other Team, unless they're just too bad for it to matter. also, I was thinking last night that all the "fight videos" you've been posting lately are nothing new. that's been happening since the 1960's, it's just that now every person at a game has a video camera and the stuff is documented.

I recall during the mid-60's when I first started going to Cleveland Browns games that this sort of stuff happened. the Browns played the Steelers on Saturday night back then and the fans were always a little on edge. that was a time when Cleveland was a perennial contender and Pittsburgh may have been the worst franchise in the league. fans fought and if you traveled the 200+ miles to Municipal Stadium to support the Steelers you were a brave soul. fans protected their turf like it was War, it just wasn't covered on the news or broadcast on social media.

the fights may have even been worse because they were between grown men and not drunken kids.

--- as for throwing stuff on the field, those Philly fans have nothing on the "Dawg Pound" where they took the snow, put it into containers and threw THEM on the field!!! find the video, the Ref's actually ended a game early because they feared for their safety. they deserved to be in fear, though, since they reviewed a play after another play had been run, maybe the only time that has been done in the early days of Instant Replay.

it's affectionately known as BottleGate!! :p

That whole bottlegate thing was brought on by the referees, they should never have been reviewing that play, I would have been pissed if I was a fan, and then to end the game early, a disgraceful display of officiating that day.

Insider information says the under is a lock tonight. For you on the fence take it with a grain of salt.

    Nope! Boring.

The Eagles are playing defense like a piece of Swiss Cheese. To top it off, the announcers are a pair of Dallas homers. :/ It’s early to bed with my book tonight.

    Dallas blow-outs are boring.

Yes. I turned off the game before the first quarter was over. I couldn't take listening to the announcers. HOMERS is right.

Who was that High School team that showed up to play Dallas tonight? Jeez, I thought Jalen Hurts was better than that............

Skip Bayless was decked out in his Dallas gear last night and thoroughly enjoyed watching his Cowboys issue the Eagles a shellacking.

Dallas averaged 5.5 yards per rush. With their passing game if you can’t stop the running game they’ll put up 40 every week.

They won’t be playing the Eagle’s defense every week. The Eagles’ defense couldn’t have stopped a hamster on a wheel last night.

I just don’t understand the catch call in the first half when Cowboys WR #1 clearly caught the ball out of bounds, that Tef should be fired. It forced Philly to use a challenge for no reason. Just something that needed to be called out it didn’t impact the outcome of the game but it’s stupid

Agreed. But it shows that with Pollard and Eliot they can run this year. The defense looks much improved with a simple scheme. Are they elite? No but it won’t take much to win that division so they are a playoff team.

What has happened to the Eagles? We aren’t that far removed from their SB victory and all aspects of that team are a mess. I think too much blame was placed on Pederson and Wentz. The defense is a mess and Hurts isn’t the answer. There’s going to be some lean years ahead.

I just don’t understand the catch call in the first half

I thought the announcers did a good job of calling in the "Ref Announcer" to get his take on it. watching the replay during his explanation it made sense, one Official was so close and watching possession that he didn't see the feet, the other guy was farther away and probably obstructed a little. they conferred and made the call which was overturned on review. for fans, we have the advantage of slow motion, multiple angles and stop-action replay, so of course the call looked easy and I initially wondered how he blew it till the explanation.

I'll be honest, I am usually amazed that a Ref can make calls like that almost always correct. they'll call a "toe tap" and the way the camera shows it I can never tell. add to that the fact that the Ref also has to be watching for possession and stuff like holding, PI, etc.

Dallas's O-Line is much better this year. Tyron Smith is healthier than he has been in a long time. That alone does a lot.
