Walked into my LCS for a Seated Dollar, walked out with this...

Unfortunately there wasn't a single Seated Dollar to look at, but this CAC'd half eagle stood out — it has a very attractive burnt orange color on both sides, which is more prevalent on the reverse. The hairline scratch in the photo between the chin and the stars is barely noticeable in hand. If not for the spot above the zero in the date, it may have graded higher. I'll send it for a TrueView eventually. In any case, it's my type example now as I expand to the Basic Type Registry Set with Gold.

I can see why that one caught your eye. Very nice looking!
Great pick up. I like PCGS CAC Gold coins.

Nice pickup! My sole example of the $5 Liberty is also a 1902-S, albeit only a 63. I was attracted to it by its rich, creamy gold luster. I believe yours may have that same characteristic.
Nice one
I think the majority of Local coin shops don’t have Seated dollars. At least the ones in my area. If they are lucky enough to get one in its typically low grade and have a problem. For the higher quality coin your after you'll need to be patient and throw the price guides out the window. Good luck!
How many local coin shops have regular customers for high grade seated dollars? I'll bet not that many.
My local shop does carry higher end stuff (there was a PR66CAM Trade Dollar in the case), but alas no Seated Dollars. The hunt continues.

Exactly right Crusty! Quality seated dollars are almost impossible to find these days.
It’s a higher end establishment. This $5 San Francisco coin was sandwiched between a Dahlonega and a Charlotte half eagle in the case.

Great eye appeal.

Nice coin, the TrueView should look very good.
Gorgeous coin, I picked up an ms62 1906-d last week but yours is much nicer! Id like to complete a basic gold registry as well.

Gold coins are the best I wish I had finances to collect a large run.

Looks like a nice 62

Not a bad consolation purchase!
@P0CKETCHANGE.... Very nice gold coin... that Eagle on the reverse is 'hammered'.....I really like it when the devices stand out like that... plus, it's gold

Here's how the TrueView turned out —

Nice Trueview. They must have cracked and reholdered it for the pic?
Yes, it was submitted for reholder service so the photo was taken in between plastic. I will have to send it to CAC to get the sticker reapplied.
