Sorry Lebron, Jordan's got you figured out
Jordan's says he would know how to stop King James.
“Force LeBron James left 9 out of 10 times”: Michael Jordan admitted to studying the Lakers superstar and points out the flaws in his game
Michael Jordan lays out a couple tips and tricks needed to slow down LeBron James as he admits to studying the Lakers superstar.
The debate on who the greatest player in NBA history ramped up with LeBron James winning his 4th championship in 2020, with several fans claiming he’s on par with Michael Jordan and others saying he’s surpassed him. The two legends have never talked to one another about it but have spoken about the ‘GOAT’ debate on several occasions.
Michael Jordan, time and time again, has said that he prefers not to say who he believes is the greatest of all time. This is due to his belief that it would be a disservice to the legends who came before him like Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bill Russell.
LeBron James on the other hand, has said that he believes himself to be the ‘GOAT’, not after winning his 4th title, but after having claimed his 3rd. According to him, coming back down from a 3-1 deficit against a 73-9 Golden State Warriors squad cemented his legacy as the greatest to ever do it.
Michael Jordan breaks down how he would stop LeBron James from scoring.
In an ESPN article from 2013 that was centered around Michael Jordan and his views on players from this era, it showcased how the Bulls legend would intently watch LeBron James play on TV and break down what he saw.
“I study him [LeBron James]. When LeBron goes right, he usually drives; when he goes left, he usually shoots a jumper. It has to do with his mechanics and how he loads the ball for release. So, if I have to guard him, I’m gonna push him left 9 out 10 times. If he goes right he’s going to the hole and I can’t stop him. So, I ain’t letting him go right.”
Considering the fact that the Lakers superstar has made the most field goals at the rim of any player in the last 25 years, Michael Jordan most definitely has the right idea here.

Jordan was the best ever. Just throwing that out there
I think Jordan would have shut down Lebron, Jordan was borderline insane when it came to winning and he obviously studies his opponents for weaknesses, I mean just look at the man, he's the definition of confidence. Trust me Lebron, you don't want none of this.
I like to remind everyone that Michael Jordan won NOTHING from 1984-1990 in the NBA besides slam dunk competitions and scoring titles. After the Lakers, Celtics and Pistons all got old, and further league expansion and the flagrant foul rule being enforced (after 10 years being on the books as a rule already), Jordan rose to the top.
Those are pretty simple facts and I lived through the transformation of the NBA from a popular team game to an 8 month long Nike commercial.
As a comparison, Larry Bird and Lew Alcindor (aka Kareem Abdul Jabbar) took the last place teams that drafted them and made them first place teams immediately - each winning a title in their first three years with the team on their respective backs.

Here to Mike and LeBron:
The Co-Goats that ruined basketball.
Who about you take your talents to China now, LeBron?
See if they’ll show Space Jam then!

why is Jordan so worried about his legacy that he needs to go out of his way to disparage one of the contenders to that legacy?? talk about insecurity, this is a man who failed at MLB, failed at any attempt to be a golfer and apparently got bitten by the gambling bug??
he should be sitting in that easy chair remembering that he's perhaps the best the NBA has ever seen and not worrying about other players.
coming back down from a 3-1 deficit against a 73-9 Golden State Warriors squad cemented his legacy as the greatest to ever do it.
people can debate Lebron's greatness, but that NBA Finals is one of the all-time best against the self-acknowledged best Team. it was a remarkable comeback.
back to Jordan........................while he's so confident he could stop Lebron, I wonder if he's ever given thought to what Lebron would do to him??
Ummmm... Jordans roster was pretty much junk until at least 88.
The Celtics Had a decent roster by 81 with rookie Mckale and Chief.
I am not sure if the game was as strong in Kareems first few years to be an apt comparison.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I fixed it for you. See how easy this game is? Lebron’s absolutely had a longer career which meant more accolades plus higher career stat counts but if you want to make the argument that Jordan could only win once BOS,LA & DET got old what’s that say about Lebron when it took him NINE years to actually win something worth bragging about.
You point out those three teams yet fail to mention that each team had at least 3 HOF players on championship winning teams.
BOS: 5 HOFers in Larry Bird,Kevin McHale,Robert Parrish,Bill Walton,Dennis Johnson
LA: 3 HOFers in Magic,Kareem,James Worthy
DET: 4 HOFers in Isiah Thomas,Joe Dumars,Dennis Rodman,Adrian Dantley

I am merely saying neither is the GOAT, my man.
You’re a Jordan guy so I get the desire to argue for your guy -completely.
I think of him as the guy who ruined the game, myself.

who is your GOAT?
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Larry's the GOAT
I stopped arguing who is GOAT a long time ago in both football and basketball, they're all just opinions and everyone's is different so what's the point of arguing them?
I just wanted to point out how one sided your comment was. Sure it took Jordan a long time to finally win a championship but it took that other guy named in this thread even longer. Neither won until the talent around them got better.
The only players to lead their team to a title very early in their career that I can think of where Bird,Magic,Kareem & Bill Russell and the argument can be made that all four won their first title against weaker competition.

Kareem is a good choice. I have him ranked above Lebron.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Honestly, did anyone in history ever have better court vision/awareness than the Legend?
I love me some Larry Bird. He has more clutch in his little toe than Lebron does in his whole body.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Magic might have but thats no knock on Larry. I love watching old Celtics-Lakers games on youtube.

Watch out LeBron, ya just pissed off the GOAT................
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
huh? jordan ruined basketball?
lew alcindor was way better. 😉
Minor correction: Dantley wasn't on any title teams with Detroit. In fact, getting rid of him is what propelled Detroit to their titles.
From a certain perspective, yes. The sport, not it’s popularity.

Having watched them live and many games since them, the game was at its peak in the 1980’s. It was better and at it’s most watchable, in my opinion.

I stand corrected. They also still had Mark Aguirre who was a borderline HOFer and a team of very good to great role players in Rick Mahorn,Microwave,Laimbeer,James Edwards & John Salley. Not to mention a HOF coach in Chuck Daly.
MJ never had that type of roster depth until he came back from baseball.

I consider myself a basketball fan first & foremost and I’ve always found the game enjoyable but I get your point, I feel the same way about baseball.

No. Dantley was traded for Aguirre*. The Microwave, Vinnie Johnson (who, by the way, is now INCREDIBLY rich), was already there. In fact, he and Dantley knocking heads in game 7 in 1987 probably cost Detroit a series win over Boston.
*Dantley is bitter about this to this day. He blames Isiah for him being traded for Isiah's best friend. Well, Isiah was behind it but Aguirre was a much better fit and the proof is in the pudding - 2 titles with Aguirre, 0 with Dantley.
Oh yeah, I wasn't really questioning your point. The Pistons were LOADED. They had 3 HOFs, multiple All-Star guys in Laimbeer and Aguirre, an All-Defensive guy in Rick Mahorn, and multiple borderline All-Star guys in VJ, and Edwards and then John Salley. If John Salley is the 9th best player on your team, you're doing OK.
I stand corrected. Good call. Those Pistons teams were loaded. Joe Dumars is so underrated.

Joe Dumars was an incredible player, one of those guy where numbers don't tell the full story. Averaging 16 pts and 4 assists a game doesn't sound like a HOFer but he absolutely was.
