1927 Buffalo Nickel

This coin has been in a plastic holder for many many years according to the previous owner who got it from his father several years ago.
I like the detail of this coin however the surface (streaking) seems off to me. Also, looking at pcgs photo grade I was thinking it might be a 63 or 64 except the reverse shows some wear (?) so I am not sure.
I would appreciate comments and possible grade from others who are more knowledgeable with Buffalo nickels.
Thank you.

The coin looks AU (on both sides) to me.

What is with the banding/streaking? Is that at all common?
Many call it a woodie effect..woody medal mixture wasn't mixed or alloyed proper. Many like it on cents as well call it war paint on buffalos.

Streaking on Buffalo nickels is usually due to improper alloy mixture. I wouldn’t call it common, but it’s not what I’d label very rare, either.

You mean this is part of the coin composition itself, and not because of how it was stored or treated?
The surface streaking is quite normal on both obv/rev sides. Coin appears, while nicely struck to be a midAU to me obv/rev.

AU. A good album coin.
AU... A good album Buffalo Nickel... Streaking is in the metal, not a defect. Cheers, RickO
Yep-it's an AU, probably an AU58.
That streaking can also be caused by a dip, which accentuates the bad alloy mix. I will say that your coin doesn't appear to have been dipped.
