Hi, I have this 1945 P Merc and it has roughly 50% split bands. I know this date is extremely difficult to locate with FSB and most I’ve seen are very flat. So I was wondering if there would be any value in a dime like this that is a bit more split than most. Thanks for the help!

I could imagine (imagine, not guarantee) a premium for just-miss FB, but doubt there’s much if any for this, which while better than a coin with no split at all, is not a liner coin.
Some sellers will absolutely try to get a hefty premium out of coins like this but I see no premium in it, especially when the obverse appears to have issues with horizontal scratches. To me, it actually looks like the bands have been "helped" at the far left and far right.
Here is a scenario: Seller makes the case for a hefty premium, someone buys it then later decides to sell it for about the same hefty premium and everyone laughs saying it is not FB or anywhere close. The person is stuck with it until they find another sucker. It's not like the TPG will holder it that says 50% FB.

Super helpful info from all three of you. Appreciate the help, thanks!
With the terrible hits on the upright bands on the reverse, top and bottom, I can't imagine a premium for this not quite fb
Mercury Dime. I would not be interested in it at all.

Split or not split.... One or the other, this is not horseshoes....close does not count. Well, maybe for some it will, but the purpose of the designation is an indicator of condition. Cheers, RickO
Thats actually a pretty good band definition for a 45-p , but close wont get it, you might get a few dollars more from somebody, but its one of these issues, where close is not close enough, it either is or isnt
