Of all the groups that have done reproductions of US coins, the Gallery Mint Museum by Ron Landis and Joe Rust stands out because they used techniques of the period including both engraving dies by hand and striking the coins themselves. Ron Landis did the engraving while Joe Rust did the minting.

Ron and Joe are well respected for their craftsmanship so I thought it would be neat to have a thread comparing their work to the originals.

This thread will showcase comparisons between various GMM pieces and their US Mint counterparts.

The first coin is the 1793 Wreath Cent.

1793 Wreath Cent copper reproduction

Original Gallery Mint Museum reproduction of a 1793 Wreath Cent.

One of the first reproductions produced by the Gallery Mint Museum.

Made in the same size, weight, and material as the original coin. This piece has some mileage as a pocket piece of Ron Landis which has given the piece as nice, even chocolate brown patina giving it a more "authentic" appearance.
