Found in my Grandparents estate

All,

I found this 1936 Buffalo Nickel, which was never completely cut from the forge...has anyone seen anything like this? I found others, but this peaked my interest...

@Gogit8e .... Welcome aboard.... The nickel was inserted into the holder... As @TomB said, for a keyring. No numismatic premium....Cheers, RickO

can such nickel be removed without damaging it?
Or can the ring element be re-installed?

If the nickel can be removed without damaging the edge it should be worth more than 5c. Possibly 20c. .

The nickel rim is usually damaged when inserted.

    I wouldn't remove it.

    It's better as is. IMHOP.

Don't make the same mistake that the Cleveland Indians made by removing the Indian.

i had suggested the nickname Tribe as the new nickname of the Indians while preserving their history.

    Otherwise too poltically correct.

I lost my teams name when the current tides of outrage took it out to sea. Now we have no name and no nick name. I maintain they should have changed their motto instead of their name. If they had just changed the Indian to a potato they could have left redskin alone

May have been a money clip with the clip missing

How cool if you popped it out and it was a three-legged?
Wasn't there a collector here not too long ago that found a three-legged attached to a charm bracelet?

They did make similar shaped keyrings like stated but there would have been a loop added to it
