I think more than 90% of Barbers in better grades have been dipped at some time in their existence. So long as they avoided the brush they recovered just fine!

Great mint marked dates. Especially that 1894-O in XF 45.
I've got a question for you. Are all the bright and shiny dimes considered dipped?

The only one that I can see that MAY have been dipped is the '94 O
Most Barbers were dipped/lightly cleaned in the 50's and early 60's. You would be surprised what a 1/2 century or more stored in some type of paper product or even just lying around will do to erase the effects of a dip. I think the entire group except the 3 coins in the middle of each row have for sure been dipped at some time. Of course I'm a purist.
Over 20 years ago I bought a modern crap collection to get 2 Barber Dimes. He got them from his Grandfather. They had that dark golden grey toning that was 100% original which you rarely see these days on an MS coin. At the time it was the 1st or 2nd time I submitted coins to be graded. The dealer I was submitting them through said I was wasting my money and they were AU at best! I don't know if he thought I would sell him to him for AU's but I said no, I want to have them graded. Well I made the 1st 2 MS 1903-O Barber Dimes graded at the time, a 62 + a 63! The dealer just said I got lucky....yeah....right!

It depends, will the next transaction be addition or subtraction? This could be the end of something.
Great start, keep them going.

Well...either a great start, or a great set if not continuing. A third choice, good luck if you decide to sell. Cheers, RickO
