But it does look like an added mint mark since it looks to have more RD than the rest of the coin

I'm still going with my first glance at the mint mark, serif's look wrong, font type looks off, but the designers initials is wrong in three aspects,
The period following the "D" is to close to the D.
The center bar of the "B" is to straight.
And the period following the "V" is to low, its more like the Philly V.D.B

Now, that's a very good question!
I'm going to state my thoughts (????) on that!
The VDB isn't correct for either the Philly Mint or the San Francisco mint (or from what I can tell of it).
And the mint mark font and serif's looks off.
I'm going with Most Likely (??) counterfeit.
Now will see what the others here think it is.

Probably But that's what we do with this kind of stuff!
We used to tell our grand kids as they were going to bed, "Sleep Tight, Don't Let The Bed Bite" but in your case I'll put it this way, "Sleep Tight, Don't Let The Counterfeiters Bit"

Here is something else about the coin, but to me its looks like the tail of the second 9's curve doesn't match the curve of the rim, if correct it doesn't have as much curve as the tail on the first nine?

I would call it counterfeit..... too many discrepancies. Cheers, RickO

My first impression was that the MM is too high, and there are raised spots around VDB that make me question the entire coin.
