CRO Newp - bust dime

I had the fortune to participate in the last CRO EB by purchasing a gorgeous capped bust dime. I sold most of my early dimes a couple years back and only have a dozen or so that apparently I had asked too much for them. Super great looking early dimes don't sell for retail, the question always is, at what multiple is some willing to pay for a gorgeous early dime. So along with those few left, when a great one comes along, preferably in AU-ish, and if I don't have that redbook variety, I am happy to buy but in no hurry.
So with that in mind I perused the EB about 8 hours after it was sent to everyone, thinking all of the amazing coins were going to be on hold. But more amazingly to me, this great dime below was still available, so I scooped it up. It is an 1837 JR4, one of four die marriages for the 1837's. It shares the reverse with the JR3 but this was the only use of the obverse die. According to the Davis Early US Dimes, 1796-1837, this was the last die pair to be used for this year. And, as you can see the obverse has a die crack right across Miss Liberty. It is an R1, the most common of the die pairings for the year. Given it was last in the emission order for the year, it also means it was the last die pairing in the series! The reported mintage for year is 359,500, and given the other 3 die pairings are R4, R3, and R2, respectively, all things being equal, this die pair probably produced somewhere around half of the 1837 dimes. Seems like they pushed the obv die to its limits to finish up the quota.
How many have this eye appeal in AU? There are 2 JR4's in Coinfacts in 58, both great looking dimes, but not as colorful of toning as my newp here. The MS examples in Coinfacts are all great lookers, I just wonder what the 'normal' eye appeal examples are like in terms of color and how many are out there. As some point I will need to examine this issue in more detail by perusing the auction results, etc.
CAC has green beaned 53 of the 1837's. Assuming that half of them are JR4, that is about 27 beaned examples. 6 are in 58, and 21 in MS, so these are not too hard to find. Again, the real issue is the eye appeal for all of these. I also show some of my other remaining Capped Bust Dimes as I strive towards building up a redbook set for all early dimes (well maybe not the earliest ones that are too expensive for me).
Feel free to post your own early dimes on this thread, look forward to seeing them!

Love them all, but especially the 1836 toning and the big numerals of the 1827. A cool collection SH! 👍👍

Beautiful pickup!
I got to admit, i really enjoy all these early dime threads. This ranks as one of the most enjoyable.
Amazing specimens, rivaling your Bust quarters!
Fantastic pickup to go along with an already exceptional group you’ve put together. Wonderful photography to boot!
I want to give a shout out to CRO for having an extensive selection of great eye appealing coins for many years. I started collecting early dimes way over 25 years ago and CRO sold me this coin back then. While its not the highest graded, nor a proof example and wasn't very expensive, its the most gorgeous Capped Bust dime that I have. The CRO team told me when they sold it to me was "Try to find another one like this" Well, to date, I haven't found a dime as nice. Thanks CRO for carrying great eye appealing coins for so long -
Great looking coins. I had never heard of CRO. Thanks for sharing.
