Just a humble VG large cent

Technically enviro-damaged due to micro-microporosity (or so I have little doubt our hosts would judge it, were I to be so silly as to submit it, which I have no intention of doing.)

Just a cheap coin, and yet I like it. Personally, I think the dark/light CircCam contrast looks great.

Humble, but with lots of eye appeal for what it is. I happily paid 21 bucks for it.

Feel free to pile on by posting your own “cheerful cheapos” that may lack snob appeal but which are still lovable.

PS- I think there's some RPD action goin' on there. Any help with Newcomb attribution? Thanks in advance.

I like it. Nice to see a large with such even wear. Yup the whole date is rpd at 7-8 o'clock. Peace Roy

I like it especially because of the historical year of 1848 when gold was discovered in California starting the greatest peacetime migration of people in human history. B)

I too have felt sorry for Braided hair large cents and taken them in.

This one wasn’t a charity case. It spoke to me. :)

I think the RPD is the compelling feature. Nice!

It won’t satisfy someone’s grading ego, but it has excellent eye appeal. I never had trouble selling these to collectors.

Not claiming to be a specialist in any way, but this beautifully worn Large Cent appears to be an N3 with doubling of the date left and the 4 just to the left of the curl. JMO.
Nice to see real public utilized coins 170+ years old to look this good. Thanks for sharing.

For its relatively low value, I enjoy this one a lot:

21$ is a very good price for that LC

I bought it in the shop where @asheland works.

@Walkerguy21D - I like both of those, but especially that 1796!

@asheland - I don’t care even when it’s a 1958-D only worth a buck or two- a full Red Wheatie still never fails to please me (when they’re spot-free, anyway).

Not 100% sure that coin wouldn’t slab but still not worth it. That’s the kind of coin you want to hold in your hand. 👍

If my N3 is correct it is an R2 coin.
