I have found a number of coins that are graded by NGC but not really any by PCGS. The attached photos above give an idea of the type of coins. Is this because PCGS isn’t really set up to do grading on these ancient coins?

Both of these 8 reales sold at the recent ANA auction .

Which one if any do you like better ?

It's all about strike with these and the strike on the top example is superior.

I like the first coin, better strike and eye appeal.

I bought the 2nd coin ......at almost 50% less than the first coin.

    Both are graded NGC 64.

Agree the first has a better strike and toning.

    Both have terrific luster.

@Bob13 Thank you for the kind words. I've collected these "Early Dated" coins for
20+ years. Here is a thread I started a couple of years ago.

Nothing special but it's my first top pop and couldn't resist because I love gator hunting.

Ounce by ounce the stack grows .

Won this one last week in the stacks and bowers world coin auction. Guessing it will be here in about a week.

Not sure about Stack's shipping and handling time but as far as Heritage goes takes about 10-15 business days all together to get to me here up in Canada. I don't mind the wait.

I get the invoice the same day the auction ends and pay it off right away.

Last time I won an auction I got the coin 2 weeks exactly after the date of winning from them.

I am keeping a close eye on their auctions just started to do so a few months ago. When I find and finally win I am sure they will be top notch.

It looks like this time will be even faster. I won last Tuesday and expected to be delivered on Wednesday. They gave me Fed Ex 2 day this time. I have never tried Heritage.
