1969 Engelhard British Hallmark Collection

Just purchased this today at a local coin shop at melt value. I understand these are very rare and collectible. The set is in excellent condition and I will be holding onto this one for a long time. Has anyone else here owned one?

While researching I also found a copy of the original advertisement for this item which retailed for $79.95 in 1969. Recent auctions for the set with complete packaging and the booklet have been in the $1200-$1500 range.

You did VERY good for a score at melt… loose bars are going in the $400-$500 range and your set has the original booklet so that is a plus.

I own one set I got from the curator of the All Engelhard website, and I cherish it to this day.

Oh,
Flip one of the bars out and check the back… some of these were engraved with names… ive seen one with a high to do senator of the time names on the back of each bar…

I believe I have two sets, at least one with the booklet. To date I have not looked at the back of the bars.
