I’ve discovered a new compulsive coin status refresh behavior…

I’ve got my first submission in at CAC and I’m finding the same desire to check the status every few hours as when I have coins in for grading. My brain keeps telling me that I’ll get an email when it’s all done but my devices seem to betray me and check the status anyway…
It’s a disease isn’t it? Any cure other than an internet outage or something more interesting to do? Anyone else have a submission somewhere they are compulsively checking? What’s in it?
For mine, it’s 6 gold dollars, a quarter eagle, $3, two half eagles, eagle, half cent, shield nicks, and draped bust half.

hehe I do this with my package tracking anytime I order a new coin... gotta check the tracking 3-4 times a day. And yeah I did the same with my last NGC submission... hard not to watch when the info is so readily availible

Every few hours... seems like a mild form of the disease. If it is keeping you from sleeping or getting your work done, that might be a problem. I have the disease also! What is the cure?

Hopefully, I can save you some time and trouble. There's absolutely no reason to keep checking. While most submitters are unaware of this, for whatever reason, when you send a submission that includes gold, copper, nickel and silver, the turnaround time is a minimum of three weeks.

Lol, well my birthday is coming up so hopefully JA will be merciful then
I know. If only they could have a video feed of your submission so you could watch it when it’s sitting there or being taken to a grader, etc.
I'm doing this right now, waiting for my pcgs 4 coin economy submission to post.
Me too!

To make matters worse, on the portal I know how many passed, but I do not know which ones because they have not shipped yet.
Same here. Thirty business days now and I'm waiting for results to be posted. I figure I'll find out next week. They do have to attribute the die marriage on a coin for the first time but I provided its closest die marriage for comparison so it should be easy. Or so I hope.
I have the patience of a saint.... I never check status, shipping (either way) unless a problem develops (i.e. recipient says not received or I see an order email still not filed - which I do when item is received). Lots of other stuff to do... hobbies, work, cooking, pets.... always busy...Cheers, RickO
I think the cure is to send submissions in every day or so.
One small trick with CAC... If your order shows a number for # of stickered coins on the "All Submissions" page but haven't changed status such that Result is posted after clicking on the order... you can use the coin lookup tool to search your cert numbers one by one and get the results early! https://www.caccoin.com/lookup/
Lol.
I have had a PCGS Regular submission sitting in QA for 12 business days now! Try to guess how I feel about now. Previously it has only taken about two-three days for grades and photos to post after it hits QA. I have two Economy submissions that PCGS received at the same time and they have just been sitting in grading forever. I wonder what I will get info on first at this point.

I know a Freudian who thinks that compulsive hand-washing is masturbatory displacement......................
POTD
CAC turn around is very quick, usually about a week from receiving them, they send an email with results. So no reason to check as they are pretty close to that time every time.
Best, SH
Great idea! Have so many submissions, and coins on order from eBay, and from the mint, and coins you are selling and shipping, that you can't keep track of anything... And then you won't be impatient about anything in particular...
I am the same way. I haven't sent any to CAC but when I send off coins to be graded, I just wait for them to come to the PO Box.
I can't recall ever checking on line.
@DSNYC Lol, give it a rest dude. How many alts are you going to create? Does it ever get tiring? Get a life!
DSNYC. My my my does someone need a nap. This is a hobby and we are just fine having a friendly conversation. Your pontificating is gigantic and bombastic. Did you know that you don’t have to say anything? What exactly are you bringing to the table but finger pointing and pompous gobble de goop. Thanks buddy 🤓🙀
🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶
I think he might keep creating alts and posting garbage until he gets his first green sticker. And I’m wondering if perhaps, the overall market is so strong because he’s been buying thousands of non-stickered coins and submitting them, hoping for just one green sticker.

That's like the carpet bombing of Dresden approach... Maybe that's it. Just a frustrated person who hasn't gotten what they really want yet.
Just wanted to follow up and say I got my results back. 5/14 CAC. I understand the look of the ones they beaned so I’ll be interested to look and compare against those they didn’t.
Still, a ~35% bean rate on a first time submission seems pretty good to me.
How many of the gold coins worked? What grades?
3/11 gold, 1/1 silver, 0/1 half cent and 1/1 nickel.
Specifically: 1862 g$1 in 63, 1888 g$1 in 62, 1836 $5 in vf30 (very red toned), 1807 50c in f15, and 1883 shield 5c in 64. All PCGS.
Here are some pics of each that passed:
I don’t feel bad about going 30/56 now. I only had one gold coin though, 0/1 of course.
To me the best part is after checking 4,000 times and then finally seeing that glorious “Your grades are ready” page.
I immediately turn off the computer and walk away. And the rest of the day I’m stuck somewhere between excited my grades are in and/or second guessing my submission on each and every coin.
It’s kinda like a scratch off ticket, the longer you wait to scratch it the longer you live in the illusion that you might actually have a winner.
Finally, once I am home, fully relaxed, and ready to face the reality (after all they're on MY time now) I will check them from my phone. This way I can scroll down the page slowly one at a time rather than everything popping up on the screen simultaneously. Because inevitably your eyes will jump to the higher or lower grades and that can be stressful having your eyes bouncing all around while trying to understand each one and then making some preconceived assumptions before fully understanding what went right or horribly wrong on any one coin.
I'm currently waiting on an order can you tell
