I'm sure Pittman was a savvy buyer and got great deals even at the time of purchase, but he was most likely active from the 1930's through 1960's....he caught the numismatic boom AND the precious metals (gold/silver) boom as well.

Agreed, especially for US coins, but he was impacted by rising prices and moved to less expensive pastures like world coins. Today, there are still less expensive pastures people can focus on, and I'm guessing Pittman himself would move to those areas instead of staying in ones he's priced out of.

My only pedigreed coin is a Pittman coin of this lovely 1954 Canadian steel nickel. NGC MS65.
