Post a picture of a coin you inherited
Many of us have inherited coins. I suspect many/most of them are heavily circulated common date coins. Still, it seems to me, there is a very real connection that you get when you hold/look at a coin that you inherited. Decades ago I inherited a bunch of coins from my paternal grandparents. I've never been sure who collected them, as my grandfather died (1957) before I was born, and my grandmother (who died in 1986, when I was 27) as far as I can remember, never showed any particular coin collecting interest. There are certainly a reasonable slug of post 1957 coins, but for the most part the coins are dated well before that date.

Sorry for all the multiple posts, as I thought NONE of the posts got posted. When I hit the post button this warning came up at the top of the page, and it appeared that nothing had posted.
Does anyone know what is going on?

These coins are from my wife’s great grandparents. We ended up with them after her grandmother passed. Her family has been in NJ right outside of Philadelphia since colonial times. They were Quaker farmers.

This is one of two quarter eagles I inherited from my grandmother, who passed away in 1976. She had received them as high school graduation gifts in 1914. It must have been difficult to keep from spending them during the Depression, as my grandparents were far from wealthy. She showed them to me sometime in the late 1960's, knowing that I was interested in coins, and said that they would be mine one day.
My father in the 30's left HS for a good job with the Federal Reserve bank. He spent 47 years with the fed. From a runner to Federal Reserve agent who actually issued and destroyed money.

He gave up a Catholic HS scholarship for the job...later getting his GED .
As a teen at the bank he was a runner, posting bills as well making collections.
This coin an 1812 bust half was a coin he recieved in Baltimore collecting a bill.
One must remember what a dollar could buy in the 1930's plus this coin was most probably a good percentage of his weekly salary.
He gave me this coin when I started collecting in the early 1960's. Yes it was cleaned by me back in the day. Its not that valuable other than it was in a way something i did inherited .
Not sure what will become of it or my collection as I have very little family.
But since 1962 its been my corner stone of my collection.
As a kid I would wonder if it was in the pocket of a defender of Fort McHenery durring the defensive of Baltimore.
But again on my coins in my collection I would love just to hear 1 story of the life and times.
"That's why I wander and follow La Vie Dansante"
I inherited this from my Father, who did not collect coins, but had some Morgans and a couple of these German coins that he kept in a drawer. Cheers, RickO

These two from my Grandfather... he liked big silver coins....

I’m a first generation collector but have passed the hobby to my son and grandson. My first coin. Paid too much and it wouldn’t grade😂😂😂😂😂🙀

🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶
I got the same coins.
A significant portion of my collection was aquired through inheritance which I have from there expanded upon. Later another inheritance of coins further fueled my interest.
I did collect coins as a kid, though other endeavors occupied my teen years. I did hold my childhood collection through it all though and They are all in very appreciative hands now.
It is always bittersweet to think of the story behind this coin and the very close relationship I had with the relative that thought enough of me to direct it here.
Edited to just one coin per thread title:

1870cc along with the info that it was one of the first three made at the new CC mint. If you want a back story on it send me a PM with your address and I'll send you a nice brochure with the back story complete.

One of several dozen passed down from my great grandfather. He was a Civil War veteran.
