I resubmitted the coin in an old 66 holder. I don’t like the old holders. I would rather it in PCGS slab and wanted to see if it had a chance at a crossover. Guess not
@gumby1234 said: @Luxor that 85 CC looks more like a 63. Sad part is that it has a CAC also. Hope you paid 63 money for it.
I think the coin looks better than 63. But regardless of whether you or others think it’s overgraded, what do you think the chances are that someone could buy a PCGS/CAC 65 for 63 money?😉

Since PL surfaces tend to make marks look more conspicuous, it’s not a fair comparison to use a non-PL coin vs. a PL one. I’m confident that the 85-CC looks better in hand.

Looks pretty nice in the photos, late die state, Striations on obverse as made, so shouldn't detract, I'll say it's a 66.
First impression says 66 to me.

Our hosts would call it a 65 but I'll say that TPG called it a 66

I grade the coin as being wonderful... and grade myself at being out of my depth when it comes to these pieces in grades above MS65/66.

My first thought was 66. Definitely a solid coin!

Actually this is what they call a 65...

Very slim because people buy the holders and not the coin many times. The cheek has way too many scuffs and scrapes for a 65 in my opinion.

It could look better in hand. Photos always make things tougher. Especially if it was my photos. My photos make any coin look bad.
