A bill was introduced on 07/20/2021 "To require the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins in commemoration of the semiquincentennial anniversary of the establishment of the United States."

Surcharges on these issues are paid to the America 250 Foundation (https://america250.org/).

Interestingly a $2.50 denomination silver coin was identified (proof and uncirculated issues). A new denomination ($2.50) silver coin series!

S.2384 - Semiquincentennial Commemorative Coin Act can be read at https://congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/senate-bill/2384/text?r=9&s=1

I'll buy this set if I'm still around in 2026. I hope they make a coin denomination in gold. Hopefully they'll make enough to meet demand and they don't have any low mintage two minute sell outs.

Hopefully the coin designs will be patriotic rather than political in design. I wonder if they will all be dual dates? It might provide a brief price bubble for selling the 1976 issues as well.

That sounds interesting,.... A new silver coin, and, I hope, an artistic design. Something patriotic and high relief. Yep, I want to be around for that... Cheers, RickO
