Stolen Coins

This was in the Precious Metals forum but since it involved coins and certification numbers were available I thought it would be good to post it here. The link is to a page showing some othe the stolen Coins and the NGC or PCGS certification numbers.

Details: “Law Enforcement Assistance Requested”

Detectives with the Maui Police department are investigating a residential
burglary involving coins and precious metals. The loss is in excess of one million
dollars.
Partial Listing of Stolen Coins:
700 Platinum Eagles various denominations graded MS69
600 Gold Eagles various denominations graded MS69
4,000 circ Morgan and Peace dollars

this is a notice to all dealers with stolen coins

provide the information in TEXT format instead of pictures or fax images.

TEXT can be google searched.

google indexes this site and the NCIC site. If the cert numbers were in TEXT a google search would turn up the number on a stolen list.

end of rant.

Actually I checked two of the cert numbers before posting (one PCGS and one NGC) and both came up accurately list on both sites. In fact one site referenced the coin as stolen.

Call it 4000 oz. divide by 16 (approximately) 250lbs. 2 people no problem. 😞

$20,000 reward for $2,000,000 coin collection,,,,,,, that is 1%,,,,,,,, seems kind of low to me,,,,

That is an incredible theft.... I would think that such a theft had a predestined disposal for the materials... especially the PM's. Very sad, unlikely to see most of that recovered. Cheers, RickO

I wouldn't consider $20,000 to recover 2 million to be a "huge reward" as promoted by the video.

I wonder why this stuff wasn't locked up in a huge safe or in a bank vault safe deposit box. Seems odd.
Unfortunately whoever stole it will most likely melt it all down and it will never be found.
