I looked at the coin and thought it had been cleaned because I saw what appeared to be hairlines but now it looks like what I saw was very faint die polish lines. It has real pretty tone and that threw me. I told my sister in law to take it up to Brian Jenner in Pasco, Washington. I kept looking for information on this medal and finally found that 126 pieces were struck as proofs in silver. Brian Jenner confirmed that the coin was a silver proof and not cleaned.

This could be a real cool find.

NGC has graded over a dozen.

I just had a raw one I sold for $325

It is a relatively scarce medal but I wouldn't call it rare.

If it has the original presentation case, it should sell well. I would suggest Stack's as they appear to get excellent results for exonumia

So Called dollar but don’t own one yet. You could always take pictures and sell it here on the bst.

I have seen pictures of that medal before - and admired it for the reverse detail. I may watch for one of those, it would make a nice addition. Cheers, RickO

Oh yeah…..now that is a super cool - and valuable - find. You did not mention that it was silver before!

Would be nice to see the piece at other angles to show off the reflectivity of the surfaces.
