Tom Brady has never drank a soda!

doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Sports broadcaster Ian Eagle had a very telling run in with Tom Brady while Brady was still with New England.

Tom Brady Shames Ian Eagle Over Poor Food and Beverage Choices:

The broadcaster tells a hilarious story about getting mocked by the quarterback during a rough morning.

  1. This week’s SI Media Podcast features a truly fantastic interview with CBS and Turner Sports play-by-play man Ian Eagle.

On the more serious side of things, with Marv Albert now retired, I asked Eagle about the possibility of his becoming TNT’s lead NBA voice. I also asked the versatile play-by-play broadcaster whether he’d be interested in calling Amazon’s Thursday night football games.

I also asked Eagle, who has covered Tom Brady for many, many years, whether we’re seeing more of the quarterback’s personality now because he’s out of New England, or if Brady has always been this fun and he’s just more comfortable now because of his age and where he is in his career.

That led to Eagle sharing an excellent story about being shamed by the greatest quarterback of all time.

As Eagle tells it, he got into New England for meetings with Patriots players one morning after not getting a lot of sleep because of work and travel. Eagle is not a coffee drinker, so he decided, at 9 a.m., to have some Pepsi for a jolt of energy. There were also some donuts on the premises, so Eagle figured he’d partake in a chocolate-frosted sweet treat, as well.

As Eagle was chasing his donut with a soda, Brady entered.

“So Tom walks in,” Eagle said on the SI Media Podcast. “I have a large Pepsi in front of me and a half-eaten chocolate frosted donut and he walks in and he says, ‘Having a good morning, Ian? How’s that all working out for you?’

"I said, ‘No, no, no. Normally I wouldn’t have a Pepsi at 9 a.m.’ He doesn’t want to hear it. ‘You’re having a Pepsi at 9 a.m. and you’ve eaten a donut. You know, I go to a healthy donut shop which is only a half mile away.’

"I was like, ‘Well, that’s kind of an oxymoron. Why would you have a healthy donut?’

"And I said, ‘Well, have you ever had a Pepsi?’

He goes, ‘No, never had a soda.’

"So he crushed me at that point and I believe he fat-shamed me.

"Three week later, we have [the Patriots] again. Road game. First thing he says when he steps up, ‘Where’s your donut? Where’s your Pepsi? He knows to keep going back to it. A year later he’ll go back to it. He doesn’t forget s---. Ever.' "

So to sum up: Tom Brady has never had soda, Ian Eagle has never had coffee, and Brady is dead-serious about following the TB12 Method and he becomes more and more likable every day.

This is really weird because I just had a Pepsi about 20 minutes ago, I used it to wash down a Payday candy bar.

do we really think tom brady never had a soda, ever? like ever. evah, evah?

like even before he was a quarterback? never went to the arcade. used a vending machine when he was a kid before bottled water or gatorade was even a vending choice? washed down a chucky cheese pizza at birthday party as a kid? never had to make the tough choice of getting either a 50 cent coke or a 25 cent sam's cola and an extra pack of cards instead? never took a sip while experiencing the sheer magic of throwing a pack of mentos down a 2 liter? or had the pleasure of ordering a coke west of the mississippi and getting that weird look from the waitress with the follow up “we got pepsi”?

i mean, cmon. i feel bad for him, if so.

often times i think TB just plays us for suckers. one GOAT-status perk is being able to say virtually anything and the masses will genuflect. like when he comes out and says a large part of my success and longevity can be derived from the avocado smoothies i drink that are infused with hammerhead shark left nut extract, none of that gives anyone pause. if one of your colleagues came up to you and said that's what was in his/her cup, the next time you hung out with that individual outside of work would be a month from never.

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

I'm 100% sure Brady was joking about never having one, and I am 100% sure that I am glad I quit drinking them. Drank them like water for many, many, many, many, many...

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Brady is FOS when he tells stories like this. He says he's never drank a soda or coffee and doesn't eat donuts yet my ex-wife's father ran into Brady at a Dunkin Donuts years ago and got a picture with him. Brady had a large DD drink in one hand and a DD bag in the other, sure it coiuld have been for someone else but I doubt it.

There's also the story of Bob Kraft running into Tom late one night at the stadium soon after Brady was drafted. Kraft said Tom was carrying a box of pizza and stopped to introduce himself to the owner and told him that drafting Brady was the best decision the organization has ever made.
I think Tom has conveniently forgotten about all of his old bad habits compared to these days, he probably tells people that the Tara Reid fling never had happened too. ;)

Brady is lying. I love him as a QB and what he did for New England but I can’t stand when he plays the weirdo or liar card. ZERO chance he has not ever had a soda

I do wish Mr. K would join us in a tasty treat though, I think he would really enjoy a Cadbury Creme Egg. My goal is to get Steve to eat at least one Cadbury Creme Egg this Easter, if you're watching Steve, please join us this Easter and have a Creme Egg. They're delicious and you won't regret it, I promise.

Tom Brady is a virgin and also a father with 3 kids by two separate mothers. He has only ever held their hands while smiling.

Tom Brady walks on water, too; he’s the lifeguard at a local pool in the off-season.

Tom Brady thought Drew Bledsoe ‘needed more work’ so he let him play a little when he first got to New England before sending him to Dallas for a chance to at least win a few NFC Championships.

Tom Brady had an eighth Super Bowl ring growing on his pinky finger of his non throwing hand. While he’s going to win another eventually, he had this one removed because he ‘didn’t earn it yet’ and must work hard for it first.

Eli Manning is Tom Brady’s son. So all he’s guilty of is not losing two Super Bowls but loving his son too much.

(Tom Brady adds, with the perfect emotional tone) “… and if that’s a crime, then lock me up!”)

Now it has appeared in the written word, now it is so.

That Tara Reid fling comes back to haunt him even more. She must have been pregnant with Eli when she was going thru all of those breasts implants surgeries and this pic below clearly shows the damage that was done... ;););)

    Nice theory.

The truth is much simpler: Tom Brady goes to Dunkin’ to meet Ben Afflek, who buys him coffee to this very day as a thank for writing the script for Good Will Hunting and giving it to him and Matt Damon. They tried to give Brady money, he refused, and said ‘Just buy me a cup of coffee some time, Ben. I gotta go see about a girl.”
