Is it really charity if you need to be rewarded for doing it?
Unfairly substituting "want" for "need", in following Jewish law, it is. There are seven levels of charity described. Non-Jews can simply view this as a moral calculus. Extraneous to describe them; that a hierarchy exists is sufficient to make the point.
Even if you do it just for the social credit, some good is done. Do you want a national award or just a hug? Maybe just a chance to hug yourself?
Virtue does not require purity. People often require purity in others so they don't have to deal with their own flawed humanity.
And how do we define charity? It surely can be supporting a good cause, whether or not there is recognition or reward for the act. And what about tax deductions for charitable donations? That is a reward; is it not charity? How about having a hospital wing named after a great benefactor? Isn't feeling good about doing good a reward of sorts?
Arguably, true charity comes from the heart. Perhaps expecting a reward, can harden the heart.

No clever coin sales benefitting a good cause are likely to work.
Thanks for all the feedback!
Can I close the topic? Probably have to be a moderator...
Oooh, i know, i can edit the topic. Look above....
Um are you looking for sympathy because some of us don’t agree with your proposal. Why can’t it just be something like “thanks I believe I have my answer “. For some reason I want to almost cry and I feel terrible that I don’t want to send you a coin or don’t necessarily think it’s a good idea to ask for a pledge of honesty?
By the way if your not a newbie how the hell do you not know and respect the Colonel?

So, my tolerance for you creates social credit on this forum which is an act of social good and, therefore, an act of charity!
Throw open the gates of heaven, I'm on my way!
Terrible misreading, Joe.
Even if it does some good, your announcement of your tolerance loses some lustre as a vainglorious attempt to create moral capital while primarily operating in service to a specious exercise of the vanity of virtue-signaling. (whaaaaat?)
Yet, if you shut me up, you might not want to shout it from the rooftops, there's no denying it did do some people good. I'd maintain you're still entitled to pat yourself on the back, I hope I've created some moral confusion. I used to have a bumper sticker that read "My job is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable"
Actually, I run that virt-sig racket on myself multiple times per day. Sometimes it feels icky and I stop.
And some disappointing news. The streets of Heaven are not really paved with PR68+ AGEs
