I was going through an early release roll of 09 pennies last night and I know everyone loves to go PMD as you can see on the coin part of the collar broke away highlighted between the 2 arrows, that piece of copper then got stretched out and embeded into the coin!

I can't explain why the rim changes so abruptly,
but
that long ragged line is from a crack in the die
Ummm....no.
If copper broke away and got embedded it would not be raised.
It's a die crack.
Nice die crack, that's about it......

Right said, Fred.
Just a die crack on a massively hoarded coin.
Yes, a die crack.... Good to keep for your 'education file'. Cheers, RickO
so i see i get it the metal is soft the die crack is really at the rim to that end point and the metal is filling in the crack and it sits ontop of the coin instead of like a regular crack when you think of it being a hole.
