It's my 20th anniversary on the forums this month.

August 17th will be my 20th anniversary on the CU forums. What a journey it has been.
What's that you said?
Of course there is a giveaway!
Why don't you come join the party and say hello, for old time's sake?
I've got another giveaway here, too.

Congrats!! Next July will be 20 for me.
Once, for about 12 hours, when CarolJ had to give me and Phil Arnold a well-deserved modspank for some raucous Open Forum hijinks.
Naturally, I groveled myself back in. And he later got hired. So it all worked out.
Some people just have too much class to get bammed.
Congratulations!
Damn you’re old.
Congrats, my 20th will be in just over a year, hard to believe its been that long.

Well deserved kudos. You've been on the Forum since before I went onto Social Security! I was thinking I might sing you "My Bucket's Got a Hole in It", but then I remembered that my usual gift for this sort of occasion is promising to not sing.
LOL!

Congrats - I remember you from CT many moons ago

Happy Forumversary big guy. I think I wondered here in 2006 or 2008. Been too long to remember.

Congratulations on 20 years! I'll reach that milestone in October.
Congrats and good to see you here again!
Ahh, yes. The “hobby horse” klippe. Always loved that design. Have owned two. Yours was the nicer, being MS. The other was a “holey” on my old signature “Holey Coin Vest”.
The pics never did justice to the piece you have there, in my opinion.
Good to see you, Wes. You and I went to a show here in GA in January of ‘08. That was the last show I ever attended, believe it or not.
Of course I enjoyed the time you sublet my antique mall booth later, when I was ready to get out of the (tiny) brick-and-mortar business. You tripled if not quadrupled the sales with your inventory, in the time you ran it. My stuff was perhaps too Darkside for this ol’ Georgia town.
Here’s a trip down Memory Lane for you.
Congratulations on your twentieth anniversary!

Now I remember. Rob!

This is a Darkside piece that's ex-Lordmarcovan
and, for contrast, another Edward I penny,
one that wasn't buried under beach sand for centuries in Wales...

Cool hoard coin, Gil! I dimly remember your buying that. Ahhh, the stories they could tell, eh?
My Edward I penny cost me 2-3 minutes on my knees in the mud of an Essex farm field, one twilight during the fall of 2013. The sun had gone down, darkness had closed in, and I had forgotten to bring my headlamp.
I guess you could say I found it by the Braille method. I kept scooping clumps of soil from the bottom of the hole I’d dug, and waving fistfuls over the detector searchcoil until I got a beep on what was in my glove. Then I fingered through the handful of loose dirt until I found it.
Though it had gotten completely dark by that time, I could tell right away I had a hammered coin in my hand from how thin it was. Exhilarated, I crossed the field to where a detecting colleague was hunting- I saw his light bobbing in the distance. He didn’t hear my approach in the gloom, so I startled him out of his shoes!
I’ve owned other Edward I pennies. and nicer, but this one is the one for me. Being the first person to touch it in 700 years was a truly magical experience.
I should add that a number of kind contributions from forum friends in the “Send Lord Marcovan to England” movement paid for about half of that trip. Without that, I never would have had the opportunity to check that #1 item off my bucket list (detecting in England) and find the coin above.
The memory of the adventure will last a lifetime, but the memory of the kindness of dozens of friends who passed the hat to make that happen is even more priceless to me.
Congrats, lordmarcovan, I have been here off and on for one year less than you...

Ahhh yes, the antique mall booth! Good gosh, that's been awhile. I plowed thru more inventory with that booth than I've ever seen and couldn't keep up with stocking it. I caught it just right with the huge runup in silver prices in 2010-2011. It was crazy good for the pocketbook but got to be too much with the over 2 hour commute one way to keep it fed plus having a full time job AND running a business with my wife. A great experience indeed and great customers to boot.
As for that show in Macon in '08, that's the last one I've been too also. A good trip.
Oh, my in-laws just bought Villa de Suenos on SSI. A little run down shack.

Dang, I just checked and I'm only one year behind you! We've been forum-married that long?
Oh well, unlike my wife, you and I have never had a fight!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Wanna start one?
Here, I’ll go first.
You smell like egg-salad sammiches!
So there! Nyah Nyah. Take that!
Hmm. Kinda weak, wasn’t it?
Best I could come up with on short notice.
(Hey, come to think of it, I could eat me an egg-salad sammich right about now. Especially with some curry in it. Yeah, I know. I’m a weirdo.)
I hit 20 in November....just a few less posts however.
Happy Anniversary!
