It's my 20th anniversary on the forums this month.

lordmarcovanlordmarcovan Posts: 43,665 ✭✭✭✭✭

August 17th will be my 20th anniversary on the CU forums. What a journey it has been.

What's that you said?

Of course there is a giveaway! :)

Why don't you come join the party and say hello, for old time's sake?

I've got another giveaway here, too.

Ahh, yes. The “hobby horse” klippe. Always loved that design. Have owned two. Yours was the nicer, being MS. The other was a “holey” on my old signature “Holey Coin Vest”.

The pics never did justice to the piece you have there, in my opinion.

Good to see you, Wes. You and I went to a show here in GA in January of ‘08. That was the last show I ever attended, believe it or not.

Of course I enjoyed the time you sublet my antique mall booth later, when I was ready to get out of the (tiny) brick-and-mortar business. You tripled if not quadrupled the sales with your inventory, in the time you ran it. My stuff was perhaps too Darkside for this ol’ Georgia town.

Here’s a trip down Memory Lane for you. ;)

    Now I remember. Rob!
(the memory is the second thing to go)

    This is a Darkside piece that's ex-Lordmarcovan

I should add that a number of kind contributions from forum friends in the “Send Lord Marcovan to England” movement paid for about half of that trip. Without that, I never would have had the opportunity to check that #1 item off my bucket list (detecting in England) and find the coin above.

The memory of the adventure will last a lifetime, but the memory of the kindness of dozens of friends who passed the hat to make that happen is even more priceless to me.

Ahhh yes, the antique mall booth! Good gosh, that's been awhile. I plowed thru more inventory with that booth than I've ever seen and couldn't keep up with stocking it. I caught it just right with the huge runup in silver prices in 2010-2011. It was crazy good for the pocketbook but got to be too much with the over 2 hour commute one way to keep it fed plus having a full time job AND running a business with my wife. A great experience indeed and great customers to boot.

As for that show in Macon in '08, that's the last one I've been too also. A good trip.

Oh, my in-laws just bought Villa de Suenos on SSI. A little run down shack. ;)

    Here, I’ll go first.

    You smell like egg-salad sammiches!

So there! Nyah Nyah. Take that!

    Hmm. Kinda weak, wasn’t it?

Best I could come up with on short notice.

(Hey, come to think of it, I could eat me an egg-salad sammich right about now. Especially with some curry in it. Yeah, I know. I’m a weirdo.)
