Yepper, most likely just Machine Doubling - AKA Slide Doubling

If you were to find similar machine/mechanical doubling on a MS67FB example I believe it would add some value. On that coin it is more of a novelty.
Machine/mechanical for Mercs in the 1940s are rather common.

It’s machine doubling
Also known as mechanical doubling
Also known as strike doubling
Also known by other names.
It is from loose machinery and the coin interacting causing some of the metal on the coin to be pushed.
It is so common it is not collectible. It is interesting.
I assume the rest of the coin is not remarkable, so you are looking at a common date Mercury dime.
Value? The amount of silver in it.

Doubling of this kind is not considered an error.
Machine doubling.
I agree with the above assessments... Machine doubling, no numismatic premium. Cheers, RickO
Worth melt. Quit wasting your eyesight on "stuff" like this. There is no "big money" in it in spite of what some on-line hypesters would like you to think.
