I've bought a few coins from Andy and always been well satisfied. Always liked the 55 but never in a position to buy it when the opportunity arose. Congrats
Jim
Thanks Jim for the 55 DDO compliment, back in the mid 60's the hopes of someone in the family finding one of them was always exciting, WE never let a Wheat cent slide through our finger tips without checking to see if it was a 55 Double Die, of course back then thoughts of buying one for us was laughable, only the rich could buy them.
Here is one for the record, the first Official Red Book Of United States Coins that I ever saw was a 1965 issue, my Dad got it somewhere. Well, I managed to actually locate it! the same one that had my Dad's signature on the inside cover!
With that said lets step back in time to 1965, I was 8 years old, and the youngest in the household, my Dad and two older brothers chatting (dreaming) about finding this coin, looking at this book! "People Actual Buy These, They Actually Pay That Much For One?" "Must be nice to be rich"
"I Prefer Dangerous Freedom Over Peaceful Slavery"

If somebody here would like to see their old US coin listing in the 1965 Red Book, I'd be glad to scan the page and put it on the forum, the book is fully intact?
Its the 18th Edition
I have a 1956 Proof too!, $2.50 in 1965! it didn't gain much traction over the years, its $10.00 in the 2021 edition.

I remember when you were asking about where to find this coin, myself and another member pointed you to the Angel Dee's site for that exact coin. I'm glad that you were able to acquire it, a very fine example indeed.
Yep! that was the coin and I couldn't remember which forum members directed to it, it worked out very well, the price was spot on the Red Book price guide too which is good these days, I've been seeing lots of Lincoln cents selling way OVER the 2021 Red Book Value, and I don't really know why?
Just today I saw a 1936 Lincoln PF- MS-63 (Satin) sell for over $500.00 I had to ask myself is my Red Book even right??? its states that the Satin for that year in MS-63 should be $100.00
I'm looking to get one, but not at that much of a markup.
Thank you for the lead you gave me to the 55 DDO, its a nice addition to my Lincoln cent collection. Its the only one so far that I've not been able to bring myself to cracking it out of the slab

Well, It would help if I'd typed in the grading correctly,
On the 1936, I actually only meant to compare a proof Satin PF-63 to a Brilliant PF-63 So, some (dumb) how I wrote in MS-63 and confused even me after looking back at my comment Thank you for pointing out my blunder!
In the 74th 2021 Edition of the Whitman Official Red Book, for the 1936 Lin. Cent in the PF-63 column its valued @ $125.00 with an (F) footnote, that footnote states that the price shown is for a Brilliant Proof, Satin PF-63 is $100
That day I had seen a1936 PF-63 Satin sell on ebay for a little over $500
With that much price difference in what a 36 Satin PF-63 sold for and what the Red Book listed value is, I ask wondering if the Red Book price is even right?
The reason I was watching a 1936 Lincoln Proof is, I've set a goal of obtaining the Proofs in all the date ranges back to 1936, I currently have all of them from 2021 through 1940, leaving me searching for the 39, 38, 37, & 36

I'm confused. Looking at the PCGS price guide a 1936 in MS 63 is way less than $100 and one in PF 63 is way more. Even three years ago a PF 63 RD sold for $456. https://coins.ha.com/itm/lincoln-cents/small-cents/1936-1c-type-one-satin-finish-pr63-red-pcgs-pcgs-population-28-194-ngc-census-6-49-cdn-400-whsle-bid-for-probl/a/131843-27073.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
