My grandparents been holding out

Went to my grandparents today and they busted these out. I am rather jealous myself 😑 the shilling with only 1 side stamped 🥰🥰 Never seen one only stamped like that. I am taking them for authentication tomorrow but wanted to share with you all. This forums has taught us more about coins than any other source 😘😍🥰

The 1913 cent and the 1932-D cent are probably the best items in the group, worth a modest premium.
The Shilling was probably planed off for the purpose of engraving as a love token, possibly related to WW2.
Obviously, the engraving wasn't done. The weight will tell the tale - if underweight, metal was shaved off.

The shilling is under by thanks!!. I did not list put up all pictures 😑 814 of them so probably 350 coins. Hoping to discover something sweet 😁😁

My advice is to put the keepers in 2x2s and mark them as coming from your grandparents.
The shilling has an 's' mint mark. During WWII, some of Australia's coinage was minted in San Francisco.

Coins like this have a lot of sentimental value.

@LoTragic ... Welcome aboard. Most of the coins pictured are wheat cents, minimal value (check @dcarr post)...Best to start an album and build the series - best kept as family coins. Cheers, RickO

There is no need to take them "for authentication". They are real coins and the great majority are worth just slightly over face value. The shilling was also almost certainly planed by someone after leaving the mint.

I...... Like BIG pictures and I can not lie, you other posts cant deny. That when a Pic posts in with an itty bitty frame you get sprung

the 1960D penny might be the small date over large date. sort of looks like it

If you have alot more Lincoln cents then sort them by decades - teens, 20's, 30's, etc. Then go from there. It will make sorting them a bit easier to start with.

The 43 almost looks like copper. That would be a heck of a find.

That only took a day and a half.......

That's what grandparents are for :).

My grandson's other grandparents gave him a bunch of Mercs and Buffalo nickels. I got him albums to organize them. Once he fills all the holes with what he's got we'll go over them together and figure out where/how to get the rest (maybe some trading at a LCS).
