What a moron! You steal a one of one card, and then go back to the dealer you stole it from, and try to sell it to him? It's a one of one; it's the only one in existence, and you think the dealer won't recognize it as his?

I love the laugh in the background at the end of the video!

This is why I keep my cases closed at all times. He probably had someone wordking with him or just waited until the right time when the dealer was distracted showing someone a card.

The story is a little incorrect. The guy stole a 1 of 1 card Maholms. He shopped it around on Saturday to some dealers. One dealer made an offer to the guy but was going to pay for it the next day in the morning. On Saturday, there were seven items which were stolen by five different characters. When the dealer found out that the card he was offered was hot, they set up a sting to arrest the guy once he came in to settle up.

Glad it was Dallas. He would have walked free in New York or LA!

I’d hate to crush the possibility of card shows in LA, but this comment is mostly true.

If you already have a record, or otherwise don’t need to worry about an arrest being on your record for a couple years, you can basically steal anything under around I think $1000 in value without any real repercussions in LA County as the current DA won’t charge most of those crimes and California law requires the state DOJ affirmatively to seal the records of arrest on any low level crimes that haven’t resulted in a plea or conviction within a year or two.

I’d think twice about setting up at any card show in Los Angeles County. Not that there are any.

As in the art world if you steal a one-of-a-kind item you can only broker it via back room deals and the buyer must keep it locked away forever from all other eyes.

The moral here is steal a 1990 LEAF PSA10 Frank Thomas as there are nearly more of them than all the grains of sand on all the worlds beaches combined.

It's my trading card "Niagara Falls" :)

You helped deepen my feelings towards it by revealing there was a person on Instagram who during height of the euphoria portion of the bubble displayed (although i feel bragged) their collection of 200 of them in PSA10. It's the poster child for True Junk Wax in my tiny mind. Huge PSA 10 population with no end ever on the horizon.

The comments about how smaller thefts are currently being dealt with are applicable to the idea of running a card show. But let's please not allow them to devolve into something political as I will have to deal with it then. Thanks!.

Todd Tobias - Grateful Collector - I focus on autographed American Football League sets, Fleer & Topps, 1960-1969, and lacrosse cards.

It must have been pretty surreal for the police making the arrest. They were not only surrounded by people with camera phones filming every second but they also had a guy with a mic following to capture every word said.

Apparently the Maholms 1 of 1 and the Luka 1 of 1 was stolen by the same guy. The whole back part of the room was clapping and all of the dealers in the front thought someone had pulled a big card. It wasn't until the guy was getting escorted out that we realized what had happened.

Now this may be missed by some, and admittedly, it is off-topic, but you wrote, "niagra falls". Not Niagara Falls.

Oddly enough, I remember when it WAS called NIAGRA Falls. No extra 'a'. Nobody said, Ni-a-ga-ra (4 syllables). It was a 3 syllable word, "Ni-a-gra".

You from my timeline of the Mandela effect Universe, or did you simply typo?

    Curious

no, i am literally that dumb, i guess. i never knew it had that extra A. was just spelling it how i pronounce it, i guess. i remember clark kent jumping over the rails there, so perhaps the same universe?

All eggs inside a single basket come to my mind.

I zero knowledge of cards from this century. What card is it? Also do you know if they are all PSA10?

dont know if it was ever tallied, but even if it were only $5 a card, it looked like easily 200 cards in that book bag. not sure what grand theft is there in rosemont, but its gotta be close.
